    Well said, excellent points.

      wrong decision for boxing fans

Israel is definetely one of the best of his era, Barrera indeed WAS one of the best in his.. This fight does not seem to be the most interesting fight Barrera as skillfull as he is should retire before getting truly hurt. Their is several top contenders in the featherweight division, going after a fighter that has shown age and miles is not going to help Israel in his pursuit of being the #1 at his division. It's understandable Barrera is an icon to several of us boxing fans, but it is not the best decision in my opinion. Great matchups are their, his options are their he should go after the best at their best with no exceptions, only then shall it be proven he's the undisputed champ..

        JML better choice

I know a lot of you said this already, but Israel Vazques would be better off facing the three fighters who are at his current level. Barrera, as great as he was his boxing skills have been leaking over the past couple years.

I want to see Vazques beat the **** out of JML (great fighter, packs an amazing punch, and speed), Vic Darchinyan (odd style but not one to look past, great punching power), and a possible rererematch against Rafael Marquez (i know trilogies are in....but wouldnt you like to see this one again? Marquez would win!haha)

Barrera wants that lightweight title, so i doubt this fight would come off

I remember Danny Romero always wanted a fight with Barrera, and i'd say he was close to it before they robbed him of his win over Vuyani Bugnu propaganda so Bungu can fight Hamed look good in his record.

That's kinda' what I think, too. And lest we forget, Izzy might be a little worn after his trilogy w/Marquez. Might be a really good fight.

This is ridicuous, he needs to fight Caballero or Juanma and if he moves in weight he should fight, John or Luevano, maybe Santiago. Anything else is Bull****!!!!!!!!!

It's only bull**** if you think Barrera is a termater can now and the fight is a mismatch. is that what you think?

First I think Barrera will have a lot of ring rust, plus he have to go down to 126(hard to do at his age) and Vazquez move up. Plus the fight doesnt prove anything!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that Barrera would agree to fight back down @ 126. i gotta think that they'd make Izzy come up all the way to 130 at least. The mountain doesn't go to Mohammed. Mohammed goes to the mountain. Ya know? As far what it all means, relax. Juanma Lopez is gonna' get plenty famous and plenty rich and plenty of nuthuggers and you'll get increased bragging rights as he does. OK? He's only 25 yo w/24 fights. Plenty of time. Have a little patience
