Holyfield says Joe Louis couldn't make it in boxing today

Disagree: Ali was past his best physically when he came back. He said it himself that his legs weren't the same and he didn't have the stamina to dance most of the fight like he used to. That is why it's counted as Post-exile Ali.
The one thing Ali was always vulnerable to was the Left-hook.Comment

That's True!!I agree with the point that Holy is trying to make though.
Athletes get bigger, stronger, and faster as time goes on.
Its simple genetics.
Couple that with the technologic advances in training, nutrition, and even the evolution of the sweet science and you have a huge advantage for today's athletes.Comment

Prime Ali didn't dance much against Chuvalo after taking body punishment from him.Disagree: Ali was past his best physically when he came back. He said it himself that his legs weren't the same and he didn't have the stamina to dance most of the fight like he used to. That is why it's counted as Post-exile Ali.

Little Bert Cooper nearly tore Holyfield up. It wasn't a fluke. Little Bert tripping on a baseball bat that happens to be in the ring, then bouncess off Don King's head and right onto Evander's jaw knocking him down, that's a fluke. Bert Cooper got that short powerfull right hand in because he made Evander trade with him. Louis would have made Holy sloppy, because I doubt Evander would respect his power and box circles around him like he did Foreman. Little Bert Cooper and Dokes traded with Evander and nearly "tore him up" a few times. Something tells me Joe Louis would have done worse if given the chance....an interesting statement...I love Holyfield and he's one of my favorite FIGHTERS...if you look at this statement like most people on here as a women would, "does this dress make me look fat?", then of course you'd get upset about it...let's look at it objectively...would Holyfield beat Louis in his prime vs Louis in his prime?...probably...the difference in training and conditioning alone would allow Holyfield to out work Loius over 15 rounds...and have any of you seen Holyfield at his best?...I have and he's one of the greatest when he was in his prime...his problem was not being a true heavyweight and fighting true heavyweights...anyone that doesn't realize this is not qualified to even post about this...there's way too many smart ass kids coming on here and posting about stuff they have no clue about other then what they read on the net...now, time for time, meaning everything is equal between these 2, I would also give to Holyfield simply because he can take a beating and I don't think Louis could stop him...I mean no other heavyweight out there can take the whoopin that Holyfield can and continue to fight...and thinking about this, I don't think he's ever been KO'd...looking at Louis' record I see that he really isn't big enough to give it to Holyfield either, he was not much over 200 is a lot of his fights and pound per pound, Holyfield is better then probably anyone out there at heavyweight...I really think Holyfield would be able to beat Louis simply because Louis wouldn't be able to stop him and since they are very close in size, he couldn't hurt Holyfield because no one ever has that was his size...other then Bert Cooper, but that was a fluke...

couldnt picture Evander saying but that i guess its true.... as shocking as it may sound he is right in a way. Without videotape back then it would be harder to pick up on an opponents style, tendencies, and what not.
Also as time progresses athletes get better with time..... faster, stronger, more durable so that does make sense... but dont get it twisted, Joe Louis could **** with ANY heavyweight today and win PERIODLast edited by Fenom; 12-24-2008, 06:14 PM.Comment

holyfield may be a four time champ but back in Joe Louis days
there were fewer titles and the title meant more ...
in the future we'll have the IBAF , GBA, RGS, WWE boxing titles haha
and a zillion other titles. back in Joe Louis day there was
but one title the heavyweight championsihp of the world ...Comment

Holyfield was a 2 time champion and a 4 time titlist (at heavyweight) in my view. His championship reigns weren't much to talk about except at cruiserweight where he dominated.holyfield may be a four time champ but back in Joe Louis days
