You need to remember that in his time, he probably heard others opinions on what Joe would do to him practically every day. When you work your ass off, but still get popular opinion against you regarding the all time greats, it can make someone a little bitter.

On that note I will say Holyfield would have given any heavyweight in history a real fight. His heart and determination is up there with the best of them.
wrong Its fact he wouldnt make pro ever way to slow and no defense and no angle use way to outdated

Well then you don't understand boxing or the evolution of the fighters, the evolution of sport, they are all better in the modern era, faster more explosive better stamina and bigger athletes with better science, obviously, a Joe Louis would do well in any era but could he make the same legend impact that he did in his time, I doubt it.

        • People accept in every other sport that the limits of human performance move on except boxing.

People out here acting like Jack Dempsey would be undisputed today, give me a break.

            • If Louis took the same PEDs as Holyfield did they're the same size.

              • They had plenty of fight film. "I see something." Why do I even reply to this nonsense?

People say, Joe Louis had twenty-five consecutive wins as a champion. That's because they didn't have videotape. You couldn't pick up his style unless you was in there with him."

This was a recent interview too (October 29, 2008). Anyone agree?

Jesse Owens was running 10.2/3 on mud and cinder tracks, wearing heavy leather spiked shoes, all while training and living off food stamps.

This comment from Holyfield is a very shallow and not 100% factual statement.

Evander Holyfield is a great fighter, great champion but he is not expert in this subject.

I have stated on another thread? Most of these fighters or athletes around today, if they traveled back in time to the 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's. And the only thing they remembered is that they are fighters or athletes. Do you guys really think they would be the same fighters? No more protein shakes, no more supplement pills to pop, no more sport science strength and conditioning coaches 'Most fighters would be completely different athletes'

It is only the fighters who are old school, who would be able to travel back in time and still be the same fighters. Fighters such as Floyd Mayweather Junior, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard and I could go on 'These are fighters who's training philosophies even in modern times, were based off old school methodologies'.

Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Canelo Alvarez, all these fighters you see doing big weight cuts 'Faking that they are genuine fighters in a certain weight class'. All of these fighters if they travel back in time, will struggle. They will be completely different fighters.
