That's hardly failing by any stretch.
I'd like to see Paul Williams fight Santos, a fairly tall southpaw with a long reach, decent power and a good chin.

Yeah but winning titles in 2 different divisions is easy for puerto ricans. 11, including Santos of our 40 champions have won a world title in 2 different divisions. By next big thing, Santos was supposed to be a favorite puerto rican to watch, and fought and beat the best, but he hasnt exactly done that, has he?

He hasn't, but my point is, he did pretty damn well and continues to do so.
World champ with some defenses is nothing to sniff at.

They say the same **** about Breland forgetting he was a world champ too.

El tipo no lo ha hecho pero no es por culpa de el. Si no fuera por la mala forma en que lo han manejado seria una estrella. Santos tiene boxeo, pegada, y su estilo no es muy facil asi que velenlo que todavia hay Santos para rato.

Don't hate me for mentioning Calzaghe (I know some here do) but as far as I know Joe was 128-2 as an amateur.

            A brief history (from Wikipedia)

Calzaghe began boxing at age nine, with the southpaw having 120+ fights and won four schoolboy ABA titles, followed by three consecutive senior British ABA titles (British Championships) from 1991 to 1993. This made him only the second boxer in history to win at welter, light middleweight and middleweight divisions. He also beat future WBO and IBF heavyweight world champion Chris Byrd as a middleweight in 1992. Calzaghe received his last ever defeat when he boxed at the 1990 Welsh ABA final against Michael Smyth.
I have no way of saying anything here is fact, but this is what I picked up from random info. Confirmation would be good. These amateur achievements are pretty impressive.

            Some more info:

            128 wins, 2 losses

He was screwed out of the Barcelona Olympics due to politics, the Welsh ABA refused to nominate him because they felt he was disrespectful towards opponents the way he would drop his gloves and tap them on the head, and Ali shuffles etc.

1985-88 British Schoolboy Lightweight (132lbs) Champion

1989 Junior Multi Nations Welterweight (147lbs) in Denmark (represented Britain against Sweden, Norway and Denmark, beat Armand Krajnc and Ole Klemetson)

1989 Junior Multi Nations Welterweight (147lbs) in Italy (represented Italy against Germany, Ireland and Romania, beat Adrian Preda)

1990 Senior Welsh ABA Junior-Welterweight (139lbs) Finalist (robbed against Michael Smyth)

1990 Junior European Junior-Welterweight (139lbs) Championships in Czech Republic (robbed against Romanian Adrian Preda)

1991 Senior British ABA Welterweight (147lbs) Champion

1991 Italy vs USA Junior-Middleweight (156lbs) dual meet in Italy (beat Raul Marquez)

1992 Senior British ABA Junior-Middleweight (156lbs) Champion (beat Chris Sanigar's Bristol boys Dean Francis and Glenn Catley, stopped Francis in semi-final and stopped Catley in final)

1992 Italy vs USA Middleweight (165lbs) dual meet in Italy (beat Chris Byrd)

1993 Senior British ABA Middleweight (165lbs) Champion (beat Jason Matthews)

oscar was around 295 or 300-5.... something like that.

a lot of boxers am records are blown up cuz the records are hard to verify... mostly cuz passbooks werent used back then like now..... but some records like Oscars, Floyds, SRR, etc. are actually verified and accurate

Mark Breland was 110-1, with 5 NY Golden Gloves titles, and won gold in the '84 Olympics.
