Oscar De La Hoya had something like over 220 wins and only 6 losses as an amateur

and he won a gold medal in the olympics

I've heard numerous times that this record is fictitious.

Not sure but I think Iceman may have even commented on it.

I remember when Santos first turned pro he was suppose to be the next big thing from PR. It didnt quite turn out that way. He was definately better as an amateur then a pro.

I always find it strange when people say that. Santos was the welterweight champ(2000-2002) and a two time a current jr middleweight champ.(2002-2005, 2008-pr)

That's hardly failing by any stretch.

He hasn't said anything about Curry's record but he did say that Terry Norris' 295-4 amateur record was probably not true.

All of these crazy triple digit-single digit am records are usually fakes.

Ray Robinson was NOT undefeated in amateurs either.

Coming from the amateurs with his pedigree everyone had extremely high expectations for him. Though he was successful to some point, he did manage to struggle during those reigns and benefitted from a few gift decisions. Combine that with his inactivity rate, and you'll see why his reigns lasted as long as they do.

Santos is not a star in this sport just cause he has had a very bad management that has caused long periods of inactivity that affected him. Maybe some irresponsability too when he was younger caused him a lot of trouble. Now he is 33 I think and he is trying to regain all the things he lost. I wish him the best and I hope he turns into the great fighter all puerto ricans and a lot of boxing fans knows he can be.

Santos vs Williams in 2009 thats what I want to see.

Zab had an awesome record of like 120 wins and 2 losses iirc.
