Daisuke Naito Stops Yamaguchi, Koki Kameda Next?

At Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, Daisuke Naito (34-2-3, 22 KOs) retained his WBC flyweight title with an eleven-round technical knockout of countryman Shingo Yamaguchi (23-6-2, 9 KOs). It was fourth successful title defense for Naito. A crisp right hand at 1:11 of the round put Yamaguchi down moments before the fight was stopped by the referee. The fight marked Yamaguchi's third attempt to win a title. [details]

It should be JBC, Japan Boxing Council Flyweight champion. lol!
Fight Nonito and risk your title to a non-Japanese for a change!

Impossible. Japan doesn't recognize the IBF or the WBO, so don't expect any unification with them. He does need to step up the competition though.

Kameda vs Naito would be a great fight. Hopefully Naito would win.

Yet another crappy defense for Naito. BFD. Yamaguchi just lost another title shot this summer.
The JBC is a frickin' turd for not recognizing all four titles and for letting its "champions" fight one bull**** defense in Japan after another. Its "champions" should get some balls and stop being the Erdeis of the flyweight division.
By the way, Naito's mandatory isn't against Kameda. It's against Kratingdaenggym, a Thai fighter who has beaten absolutely nobody to "earn" the mandatory ranking.

You talk about taking a "risk" but what money is there to do that? is some huge japanese contingent gonna be here in america? and how will it looks going against the best interests of his promoters as well as the JBC.

Kameda is ranked 3rd by the WBC. Julio Casear Miranda is the mandatory isn't he? I know he won an elimination bout on the undercard of Munoz-Mijares (and looked very good doing so). Or do Kratingdaenggym and Miranda have to face off for the mandatory spot?

In the meantime I think Naito can make another voluntary. Koki Kameda would be a very good fight and it was about to happen, until Kameda pulled out. Who knows if it'll actually happen.

Big ****ing deal. Go fight Nonito, Mijares, or someone legitimate. This article is pointless.

Using that logic, all the Germany-based champions like Erdei and Sturm should stay in Germany and continue to fight mediocre opposition because they can make good money fighting easy defenses and not risk actually unifying a title or fighting a meaningful opponent. If that is what Naito wants to do, fine. Doesn't mean they aren't bull**** defenses.
