I say no for Cotto based on how he acted and given his natural frame. It's always possible, but I have my doubts with him. Cotto moved up to 147 from 140 because he was draining to much weight...where Shane, even though he was draining weight when he was a lightweight and has said he was a natural JrWW; his continues move can be deemed fishy by some. I think it is quite natural to just put on weight as you get older and continue to train and eat. But, the Balco thing doesn't help Shane's case. He could have been natural up to that point and maybe he didn't know what he was taking...doubt it, but it was possible. I don't believe either Shane or Conte. Conte could have just been protecting his ass from the start.

I think he suggested HGH use with Heavyweights during a broadcast. Modern HWs exploded up in weight as seen with Jameel McCline and his alleged connection to HGH and steroids. The guy is 6'6 and like 270 pounds. Could it be "natural," maybe, but I doubted it for a long time and the allegations against him that came out reinforced it.
I think there are only so many Primo Carnera's out there in the World. HGH and Steroids let you catch up to the "Alpha-Males" of the World.

Steroids can also be used for lower-weight athletes as well since not all put weight on you.
I don't really remember what he was talking about exactly, but I remember him saying 7 out 10 boxers probably use some kind of performance enhancing drug and I think it was during a discussion of illegal substances so I would assume he meant they take some form of illegal performance enhancing drugs.

Possibly. I wonder how Max would know: Assumption or inside information?

I get a bit su****ious when fighters start to pack on muscle weight and continue to keep a great physique while keeping speed, endurance and power. I always like to look at what they come in as. Of course, the initial boom of muscle weight can happen for a person in the first few years, especially the first year of lifting/training and increased protein and calories so I always consider that. Genetics is a big key and if you are blessed with that, you can get big and strong fast. Sometimes it's hard to tell and other times, not so much.

I'm still amazed on what a person can do naturally and the first time I saw the vintage bodybuilders of yesteryear, I was amazed at what I saw.

I wouldn't know if it was inside information or if it was just an assumption, either way, I wouldn't be surprised if that was true.

Of course, putting on muscle mass while keeping their speed, endurance and power can get su****ious, I'm always hesitant to throw around allegations of steroid use, who knows what else they could be doing.

As you should because it is unfair to the person. In this Country {USA}, I would still like to think we favor an "innocent until proven guilty" policy. However, there is no harm in bringing up the question and possibility but there is a problem when we avoid the question entirely.

I agree, I don't have anything to add.
