Why boxing and UFC should not be compared

UFC will replace wrestling, not boxing

Wrestling is a bunch of fakeness with no real meaning anymore (not trying to offend those wrestlers out there!) and wrestling is on the decline if you compare to the 70s/80s.

Boxing has a LOT of history (therefore alot of roots), its a recognised sport world wide and is also an olympic sport and has been for YEARS

There are iconic figures within boxing such as tyson ali who if you never saw a boxing match in your life you would know.

UFC is relatively new, half the people in the UK dont even know UFC exists, let alone know champions in divisions.

So really boxing and UFC should live with eachother like boxing and wrestling have, with UFC being the more brutal and shorter lasting sport

Although i have to admitt boxing is on the downward spiral, mainly because of the weak heavyweight division (i know they have some good competitors but i bet most of the public dont know of them) which has traditionally been the most popular division and because of bogus titles and PPV's flying about everywhere, so big boxing events become 'just another PPV'

But yeah, boxing will live, i just hope they change the rules so it will become more popular in a media sense than UFC

MMA actually goes back to ancient times just like boxing.

Boxing is hand to hand combat fighting while MMA is all around combat.

Fedor may actually be the "Best Fighter" in the game as far as "Sports" Combat.

Wrestling is wrestling. Real Wrestling, right?

i was reading an article the other day on UFC and its possible effects on PPV events in boxing. it came up with the conclusion that boxing had not really been affected by the emergence of MMA. it then went on to show that wrestling and WWE had really been affected by the MMA/UFC monster, the PPV and general viewing figures were all down.

from this standpoint you could say that boxing has atually benefitted from MMA/UFC. think about it - in terms of PPV and viewing figures boxing hasn't been affected. however in terms of coverage and exposure in the media and tabloids the sport of boxing hasn't really been as prominent its champions not as widely recognised and many fans still think that tyson, DLH etc are still great fans. the success of MMA and UFC in the media and advertising has lead to boxing upping its game, the big fights and big names are fighting more often imo, in an attempt to bring about single champions in each weight class.

imo the UFC/MMA has been the best thing to happen to boxing since a young man named iron mike tyson.

Fights are fights: Put on an entertaining fight and people will watch. "Stars/Phenoms" help a sport a lot. Look at Golf and Tiger Woods. Boxing would be better off with more Phenoms but it doesn't have to have them all the time...as long as you have Gatti vs. Ward fighters out there that come together; "it's all good." People still like High Quality fights though.

i like both MMA and boxing. I was first an MMA fan and still am, then i got into boxing. I like them for what they are. To compare the 2 is ****** because in MMA you have to train for all aspects of fighting in which many fighters are not complete in MMA. Boxing is technical stand up (with punches) at its best. What gets on my nerves is how people shun down upon MMA stand up, reason being is because your stance must drastically change when punching and worrying about the take down at the same time. Dont get my wrong though, i like boxing better than MMA because I myself like the standing aspect of fighting since ive been training Muay Thai.

Boxing is a gentlemans sport, standing up,using mostly ur hands,10 seconds to see if u can continue after a knockdown. UFC is more brutal, standing,on the ground, submission,I think its really up to ones personal preference.U really cant knock either. Although honestly boxing politics and curruption, could easily be the cause of UFCs huge fanbase and u cant really blame them.

Im telling you right now UFC will NEVER replace WWE...ever..u can forget about it..WWE is f***** HUGE outside of america and hell even IN america it may not be like in the late nineties or early 2000 when Stone Cold and Rock dominated but its still HUGE. These *******s make MAD money from merchandising and ticket sales, payperview rev etc..again..even though its not as big as before The WWE is simply a Merchandising Juggernaut and its not going ANYwhere anytime soon..All they do is touring man over and over and over..it aint going nowhere.
