Most Respected active fighter, true living legend... Oh wait, actually active fighting legend. Still the best in the game at 43, what more should be said.

Good to see him getting so much love, but I'm not holding my breath for most of the people who love him now to stick around long. I don't know many, if any, of you guys personally, but I'm a tad weary about Hopkins bandwagoners.
I remember when I picked him to beat Tarver and then people were showing him insane amounts of love, really for the first time ever in his career had I see that much respect heaped on him. Then he looked subpar against Wright (but still won convincingly IMO), and people left him for dead.
Hope you guys all stick around though. Me and the old school Hopkins crew were starting to get tired of having to explain why Hopkins was/is such a great fighter. You guys can pick up our lightwork now.
Also, did anyone else notice the nervous look in Hopkins' eyes before the Pavlik fight. I've never seen him look that nervous before a fight.Comment

he should have a PHD in the sweet science...he knows that much and continues to want to learn.. knows how to get in ur head and takes away his opponents' best attributes... fighting bernard is a life altering experience.. I'd like to see him get another shot at Calzaghe but I doubt that would happen...there's nothing else for him then.. he should retire, but I'd hate to see him leave..Last edited by RisAri0; 12-22-2008, 08:12 PM.Comment

As corny as this may sound, Hopkins actually motivates me to get my ass up every morning and do hardcore roadwork even when my body feels like it's being torn.
Just makes me feel so ordinary, but watching a 43 year old man work his vodoo like he do...well after all is said and done, I could only hope I'm a fraction capable of doing what he does in the ring. Much respect for his wisdom.Comment

I wouldn't say he was nervous or scared, he was just fully aware of the fact that this could likely be his last fight.Comment

A beautiful story:
Hopkins and an even tougher fighter
You won’t find Shaun Negler’s name in the FightFax database, the official record-keeping service of professional boxing.
There are no tapes of any of his memorable wins or stories of epic triumphs left behind. That’s because they don’t exist. He was robbed of a career in the sport he loved.
But none other than Bernard Hopkins...
