I have said continually that a different referee may not make any difference whatsoever (although that would mean accepting a tremendous coincidence in that Hatton's competitiveness dropped off entirely following the point deduction) but it would make for a considerably better spectacle.

The trouble with Cortez (and this is speaking objectively) is that Hatton was touted as one of the best inside fighters currently in the game with a rough and ready approach to turning it into a fight while Floyd was a consummate slickster. The clash of styles and personalities was what sold the fight. Cortez took away one of the styles and robbed the neutrals of what could have been a classic.

I don't know how anyone can't be pissed about that.

Maybe we'd be pissed if Floyd hadn't beaten Hatton on the INSIDE. Watch the fight again without the Hatton goggles.

Floyd gets credit but Cortez gets more.

How could Hatton win when he wasnt allowed to fight? that fight for me was a default draw.

And I STILL think Hatton would beat him in a rematch.

It wasn't a fair fight. Hatton was fighting TWO people - Mayweather and the crooked ref, Joe Cortez, who was in his face all night long trying to distract him.

Don't you find it a it pathetic that excuses are still being made about this fight?

Next they will say the ring post won the fight not Floyd.

I hope Hatton destroys Pacman and Floyd fights Ricky again in Manchester with Dave Paris as the ref. The fight will end even quicker.

The moment I saw Cortez go into his act I knew he was on the payroll.

Not only did they hire the ref - if you can call that thing a ref, but they had a special big ring built for May., and, as usual, the judges were Don King friends and relations and ex-cell mates. You could see the phony scoring they were doing when they posted it. One way or another the Las Vegas mobsters were going to see to it that Mayweather won.

It's the crookedness of gangster-run boxing that's pitiful.
