Who wins? I saw Gomez fight against McCall. He seems like a decent fighter but nothing special. I would have to see more of him..... But who you got? Poll on the way.
Wladimir Klitschko vs. Juan Carlos Gomez

Gomez fights to the pace of his opponent, so it could be a boring affair. Wlad's best chance of knocking Gomez out is early like Yanqui Diaz did. McCall landed a few big shots on Gomez late in their last affair and buzzed JCG. In terms of boxing prowess, Wlad can't touch Gomez, its not even close. But Gomez is leagues behind Klitschko in power and overall strength. If Juan can stop Wlad from laying on him on the inside, he picks him apart and wins this fight.Comment

I hate to use a cliche, but boxing is not rocket science [most of the time]. The Klitschkos' are used to fighting people who don't really use much lateral movement, or movement of any kind. Gomez can move, throw quick shots in bunches, and get out of there. He's not an idiot. In a fight with one of the Klitschkos', he will be hit, of course. But Gomez has shown he can take a punch or two. Probably the biggest concern with Gomez is his stamina. I would certainly hope that he's working hard on his fitness, knowing that a big fight is on the horizon, so hopefully he comes in very good shape.
The Klitschkos' fight most of their fights on their own terms, just standing throwing jabs and straight punches at opponents who are not moving much or initiating any sort of attack, either with the intention of taking their heads off, or merely as a chance to score some points. Gomez will try and win rounds, that's what he's capable of doing very well. If he can land 3 and recieve one, then it certainly seems winnable. He can move, has fast hands, can throw punches in quick bunches, has good counter punching ability, decent chin [despite the loss], has good mental strength to endure a tough fight, and has enough power to throw solid enough shots, despite not being a very hard puncher at heavyweight.
I honestly believe he can give either brother a lot of trouble. The Klitschkos' are good boxers, but they're anything but slick.Comment

and that will be bad.
He has a good chance to win a decision if he's smart in there and in good shape.Comment

Gomez Is a decent boxer.. A Tricky southpaw with ring smarts and a decent chin..
He will have the same problem that every man who faces the Klitschkos faces..
The size difference tripled with Their Skill and power.. nullifies 90% of what their opponents bring..
Put any Two heavyweights in the ring with each other.. and It's usually a Competitive fight..even if it's clearly being won by Fighter A.. Fighter B is still landing meaningful punches.. Even if it's a snoozefest..
Now take those 2 guys and put them with the Klitschkos.. and it's now a one sided beatdown..
Some guys might be more skilled (Toney,Gomez)
Some guys Might Hit Harder (Haye,Brewster)
Some guys might be as big or bigger(Valuev,Austin)
But NONE can Combine all 3 to the levels of the Klitschkos..Comment

Great post!
I've been saying it for years, the Klitschko sisters are grossly overrated. Their careers have been very well managed and they have had no shortage of good luck with opponents who have enough talent to beat them. Kirk Johnson could have out boxed Vitali Klitschko but decides to avoid training and comes to the fight with an extra 50 pounds giggling fat. How many tough fights have they had? Did they ever grind out 15 hard rounds against Joe Frazier or Kenny Norton? All they ever do is punch out the bum who is standing in front of them, and these days there is no shortage of bums.
As I recall Gomez beat Wladimir Klitschko in the Amateurs. In any case, he has enough skill to beat either Klitschko. The question is, does he have the heart?Comment
