He can grow balls, stop acting like a 16 year old kid and fight REAL fights and not BS fights for BS belts.

The problem is that he's at welterweight now, when his legacy is solidifying and he hasn't done enough at welterweight. If he had stayed at junior welterweight we wouldn't be having this discussion. No one is going to outbox him, but at welterweight he hasn't fought anyone that can hurt him. So questions remain. He hasn't had the Ali/Foreman or Leonard/Hagler fight, where he faces a guy who can legitimately hurt him, where the risk is trully high.

Plus he's so ******** obnoxious when he talks, no one is going to cut him any slack.

          Or
          • do you think that they are really upset about is not seeing Mayweather fight the fighter that they think he has the most disadvantages against ????

I think they are mad because Floyd doesn't give a damn about getting a decision win. Most people want to see a slug fest with back and forth sledgehammer punches. Floyd is the science side of boxing which is why alot of people wont respect him in the ring. If he would stand and **** like he did back in his debut, everyone who doesn't like him would like him. Although he would have losses, everybody would love him regardless.

Will the Mexicans Fans give him a pass on not fighting JMM?
If Floyd doesn't come out and fight anyone in the foreseeable future, people are going to lose interest, plain and simple. Though Floyd is undefeated, he's never been looked as this dominant force more than just being a great boxer. He's been built up pretty high by his fans and his team as being the #1 fighter in the world, but that title of being the best was always displayed by fighters who continued to take all the top challengers, not just abruptly stop as if he's done it all.

I'm not mad at anyone retiring for their own personal reasons, especially if you have a family to attend to. But considering his choice of opposition post the Corrales and Castillo wins and his move to welterweight, he's chosen great opposition, but with little risk. What makes champions stand above the rest is taking those fights against fighters who are also in their prime and pose a serious threat. Now, a lot of Floyd's fans will say Oscar and Hatton were dangerous fights, but in reality they were great names for Floyd to look good against and the rewards were much more grand than against any fighter he had faced, so I wasn't mad at him taking those fights.

But now that the smoke has cleared and Floyd is technically out of the spotlight, there are tons of intriguing fights that are being made and will be made without Floyd in the picture. If he chooses never to return, so be it...he'll be remembered as one of this generation's greats, but at the same time he'll also be heavily looked as a fighter who chose his opposition "wisely"...and in Boxing it's not about the trophies you've won but more of who you've faced in your career and when you faced them.

I like Floyd Mayweather Jr. I watch his fight highlights over and over.
I just can't see how a boxing fan can't like a Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But then saying that... inside the ring he is great.

but outside? in interviews? his self-indulgent statements?
                  it's a whole new story.

People hate Floyd Jr. generally not because he is a lousy or a bum fighter, he is something special. But when for example a SRR or an Ali fan hear Floyd say I'm better than SRR and Ali...what do you guys expect from Ali's and SRR's fans?

with these kind of statements coming out of Floyd's mouth it is always inevitable for other boxing fans to generate hate against the man.

The thread to this title is crazy, it says no flammers

Any subject involving Mayweather that says no flammers is going to get trashed guaranteed.

I can watch his 130 + 135 fights over and over because he was a beast back then, but he's become less well rounded as he's moved up in weight. Lower workrate and far more defensively orientated. He's much more beatable at 140/147 then at 130/135.
