Lets just put it this way even if mayweather never retired and fought after the hatton fight pacquiao would still beat him convincingly. Mayweather has always picked his opponents. He's never been the true pound for pound fighter. P4p means you have to beat the best out there. Picking and old de la hoya and winning a split decision in your prime and the decision was still controversial just shows how limited floyd really is. Every time he stepped into the ring with an elite fighter its was either a close fight or controversial. Please dont mistake a true p4p fighter like pacquiao for a fake one like floyd. Pacquiao has never ducked anybody. He's fought the best and has beaten the best. Not just beaten but destroyed. Thats pound for pound. Mark my words if pac vs floyd ever happens floyd will be dominated by pacquiao.

What sucks is that Mayweather never fought the top in his division and Pac steamrolled through his and even beat a Welterweight which was uncharted territory for him. Now Floyd is possibly considering a match with Pac only to gain P4P status but really he never fought those top Welterweights.

i would hardly consider a old morales times, an old barerra, solis, david diaz, fashan battery, etc top division ELITE fighters.. the only Elite fighter not completely past his prime fighter he faced was Marquez, and many thought he lost that fight, Barerra the 1st time they fought - which was a great victory for pacman, and morales the 1st time they fought and pacman lost.. pacman's resume is overrated

It'll play out in either one of two possible ways....

He will either stand center ring with Pacquiao, and slaughter him at close range ala' Gatti.

Or, he will fight him on the inside like he did Hatton, starching him in a late TKO when Freddie Roach tearfully comes to Pac's rescue by throwing in the towel.

you're absolutely right about navarro and cauthen, i always hated to watch those fights, but you have to be ****ing kidding me to believe he hasn't improved against southpaws. i mean, yes, zab and corley gave him competition, not trouble. corley lost almost every round, hell, he may have lost every round in that fight. he landed some crisp punches on floyd and the only punch that floyd felt was the hook in the 4th round which floyd recovered, not because of the lack of corley's conditioning, but because of floyd's brilliance in the situation. he made adjustments and deserved to have the kd of corley later on in the round, where it was a kd, just a couple of shots corley fell from, that were ruled slips, bull****. and zab deserved the kd of floyd in the 2nd round, but zab is no where near as intelligent in the ring as floyd is, he called floyd smart in his interview before the fight, and said there was nothing mayweather could do do beat him, and floyd broke his ass down to the body in almost every round and messed up his face also. floyd fights at a pace he loves to fight at, and his pace is very methodical, remember this word, i have used it many times on here, and will continue to use it until you get it.

pacman's reach is at least 4inches smaller than floyd's and floyd would land lead right hands on pac all night. what can pacman really land on floyd? he would have to jump in on floyd all night, and would get countered, just like with marquez. tell me this. do you see manny beating floyd on the outside jumping in and moving to his left afterwards without eating a left hook, that is much better timed than oscar's and can land to the body better than oscar's? floyd can throw his left hook like a power left hook or a slapping left hook and land it like he did with zab and corley in a powerful way and slapping way, both very effective seeing how they didn't know what type of hook he was throwing. pacman is vey hittable to his body and head. floyd is too intelligent in the ring, and stays in shape, he's a gym rat. you really think he's out of shape? i don't think so.

Zab and Corley had Mayweather in a little trouble with the angles from which their shots were coming from. The reason they fell out of the fight is because they have 4-6 round gas tanks.

Corley had Mayweather hurt in, well I forget the round, but by the end of the round he had completely shot his load. Mayweather closed out that round stronger because Corley is not a good finisher (as evidenced in the Cotto fight as well). Pacquiao is a damn good finisher.

All I'm saying is that for some reason, southpaws give Mayweather problems. More so than any other style of fighter. It's a pattern, wouldn't you say?

I know all about "methodical" and the reason he is allowed to be methodical is because people fight at his pace. Problem is, Pacquiao doesn't fight at his opponent's pace, he forces a faster pace than what his opponent is comfortable at.

The straight punches of both guys is their best punches, but to say that Pacquiao would just jump in on Mayweather is not entirely accurate. Hatton jumps in without a jab, Pacquiao doesn't. Pacquiao uses a very educated southpaw jab. Reach does not = better jab necessarily, it's about timing and rhythm. Whoever establishes their rhythm first would have control of the fight.

As I said earlier, being in shape and being active are two very different things. A large part of Mayweather's income is making appearances at night clubs. All I'm saying is doing it in the gym is not a substitute for doing it in the ring.
