From the outside looking in, do you think that Floyd Mayweather's 'Money' persona is bad for the sport ?

Not anymore than the bad guy persona in "Pro Wrestling" hurts wrestling. The only problem is satisfying the crowd IN the ring. You have to provide entertainment outside AND inside the ring. Not living to expectations is what hurts boxing.

Exactly, you can have the douche bag "Money Mayweather" persona, but if you hold it down in the ring..lol You can get away with it.

          Well, from an outsider's perspective...

Do you think that his persona is bad for boxing in that people affiliate boxer's in general with being more concerned about money, than the sport itself ?

Actually, I think that the good guy/bad guy ploy is what's fueld pro wrestling since its inception.

It wasn't until Stone Cold Steve Austin came around that rooting for the 'bad guy' became so popular.

No, i dont think people care about super materialism like that because today's society is all about having money. What people may hate is his flaunting of his wealth but America is about money money money. The casual public wont criticize a boxer because he's mad rich, they'll criticize him if he talks a big game but doesn't walk it.

It's his behaviour outside the ring that's sad. Inside the ring, he's a craftsman.

                    No.
He brings popularity to the sport.
Whether you want him to win or you want to see him get knocked out.
