Something to think about with Toney and Jones Jr.

Do you remember that infamous pre-fight interview with Toney and Jones Jr. that appeared on HBO? That took place on the HBO telecast of George Foreman's knockout win over Michael Moorer in November of 1994.

Holy %$^& that was a loooong time ago.

I was in second grade. That was the first year the Rockets won the NBA title, beating Patrick Ewing and John Starks and the Knicks. Mike Stanley was the Yankees' catcher and Jim Abbot was their ace pitcher.

The 49ers won the Super Bowl. It was the middle of Clinton's first term.

And Jones was in a PPV main event not long ago and James Toney is still a top 10 contender. WTF

I made a thread a few months ago talking about how in 1993 Hopkins and Jones fought for the Middleweight belt James Toney vacated.

15 years later two were in big fights, and the other was potentially on his way to another Heavyweight title shot. That's almost unheard of.

damn, time flies. this just further solidifies the greatness of Toney, Jones and Hopkins.

I love watching the preliminary discussions on an old school boxing event, it really sets you in the moment that the fight was taking place. Boxing is timeless, but to setting the mood makes it feel like it's live.

Watching all of the circumstances swirling around the fight, the atmosphere, it just really makes boxing come alive.
