This is a waste of time

This rematch is a waste of time. Dawson, will only beat Tarver more convincingly this time, probably stopping him around the 8th round. If I were the road warrior, I would be upset also, because his fight was truly competitive, and a very good fight. Dawson, is in a difficult position, because the big money names, Calzaghe, Hopkins, will not fight him! He's going with the contractual obligation, as well as the best paid fight. I can't get mad at him, but HBO, needs to look at itself, in trying to make the best match-up possible. This is not the best match-up possible!

Johnson is right.. Hopefully Kessler can land a fight with Johnson since he's up to nothing.

When Johnson declared the decision in the Chad Dawson fight to be bad for the sport, I felt that his complaining about a close decision was very bad for the sport and selfish.

Here, Glen Johnson is exactly right. What he's doing is verbalizing what many fighters are thinking when they see a fight that is unnecessary being given priority over something that is worthy.

Think back to the 90's, when HBO was showing every Roy Jones fight regardless of how mismatched it was. They are doing the same thing, only not catering to individual fighters but promoters.

Of course Tarver had a rematch clause, but HBO did not have to get involved. They did so because certain promoters wield a great deal of influence over what fights they air and don't air. It's monopolization, is what it is.

The network politics are what hinder the sport from growing. One hand washes the other, I guess.

This is a bit ridiculous. Chad has fought step up fights his whole career. He finally takes a money fight. After CALZAGHE opted to not fight him and he's all of a sudden ducking Johnson?

HBO preferred this fight, I'm sure of it. And Chad would get more money for it. Dawson wins it, anyway. Johnson still has a decent chance at a rematch.

            Jeez, take it easy people.

Are you sure? I am pretty sure most of the polls I have seen favoured Dawson winning that fight.

I know it is only my opinion but having watched it a few times I think anyone who thinks Johnson won either didn't score the fight and is only remembering the last few rounds or can't score a fight.

its not that much of a disgrace(because it will get chad exposure and tarver is still a top contender...), its a disgrace that johnson has not gotten a rematch though......

still, i think chad won clearly 7-5........and he struggled because he fought johsons fight early(and got the better of him till he ran out of gas...).....nonoetheless it was a great fight and johnson earned a rematch...

                    I have to say..
Johnson won a few rounds, and the rounds he won, he won them BIG..
But, he was outpointed and Chad was just the better man..

It was competitive, not a robbery..
                    Dawson would beat Johnson again..

This rematch is ****** tho, Regardless of the rematch claus, its just pointless
BUT, the good that comes out of it is that he gets exposure on HBO..

I hope Dawson does the same exact ****.. F Tarver up and send him into retirement

Johnson gave it to him and made it a close fight but i felt dawson definitely won that fight but this is a good move for him. You could tell with all the praise max was giving him that hbo wanted him so they put him on in a fight that he'll obviously win to showcase him as the heir to the light heavyweight throne. Next step for him is to unify all the titles by taking care of the bums with belts. Yes Johnson deserves a rematch more than tarver but he didn't have a belt so he didn't have that option but dawson has improved since then so he would beat him by a wider margin the second time around anyway. After seeing adamek do damage at cruiserweight I'm thinking much more of dawson now as well.
