Really tough question, but I gotta go with Oscar. He was "officially" a 6-division champ who ended with 6 losses after fighting just about every great fighter it was physically possible to fight

Tyson was amazing from 87-89 but lost focus. If he had been undefeated until running into Holyfield in 96, then yeah I'd say Tyson all the way, but he hurt his career by losing to Douglas and going to prison

        Both are ATG's.

In terms of achievements, DLH is probably greater.

Tyson, however, is known all over the world. His name is firmly imprinted in people's psyche. He's probably one of the most famous men on the planet. Even now, he'll bring a place to a standstill. Look what happened at Cannes earlier this year. The entire place stopped to get a soundbite, picture or a glimpse of the man.

Could Oscar have done that? Never.

        Tyson, like Ali, is immortal.

Why do people always try to factor in popularity to ATG status to rank guys like Tyson higher? You judge boxers by what they do in the ring, not outside of it.

Tyson in his prime defeated all! At the highest division in the sport in exciting fashion. No questionable decisions against fighters on the decline. Nor did he pose interference in potential fan friendly match ups. Skill wise, Tyson is an all time great. DLH's skills are good at best! DLH will be considered according to his marketability not his memorable in ring performances!

Oscar. He defeated a far higher level of competition.

Oscar De la Hoya and Tysons PPV numbers are nearly identical.
                There loss record is identical.

I would put both of them in Top 10 ATGs based on their mainstream appeal alone.
