Britain Vs Latin America: Better for boxing

UK vs Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba

Naseem Hamed bestowed life on the withered Featherweight division. If it were not for his presence, the average fan would have never cared for Barerra or Morrales , and in turn Manny Paquiao.

Lennox Lewis is self explanatory. The last undisputed and lineal Heavyweight champion of the world. Beat everyone he ever faced.

Joe Calzaghe: Absolutely dominated the Super-middleweight division, whopped Roy Jones and Bhops ass. Undefeated perfect record.

Ricky Hatton: Probably the biggest cash cow in the sport next to ODH. Great personality and exciting to watch.

David Haye: Introduced BALLS into the heavyweight division: Eyeballs as well as bull balls. Every boxing fan in the world should write him a thankyou letter.

I think its a no brainer that Britain is better for boxing than Mexico, Puerto Rico and Cuba together. Funny thing is, if you add up all of the L's from the gentlemen listed above you will only get 5 combined losses! That equals Margaritos current record.

    What do you guys think?

Hamed - Who made that guy run away from boxing again???

Lewis - Not really many Latino fighters in the heavyweight division, so not a good example.

Calzaghe - Again, not a lot of Latino fighters in the SMW or LHW division. You got Andrade, Gonzalez....and that's about it.

Hatton - Props to Ricky, he's a cool dude.

Haye - Another heavyweight=another bad example.

Overall though, the rise of British boxers have been good for the sport. But here in the States anyway, the Latino fighters are what draw the majority fans to the fights.

People already cared for Barrera long before Hamed came along. And Morales went the same route except once Barrera took a rest for a short period Morales gained a lot of Barreras fans.

How many world champions has Mexico and PR had combined? That stat coupled with the size of both of those places should win this argument.

Latin America is better for boxing, give me one example of a bigger rivalry in boxing with more exciting fights than the Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry, the only british fighter that I can agree is good for boxing is Hatton, he draws people in with his style.
