Every fighter cries. I'm not knockin him for that. I know for a fact DLH cried that night he fought Pacquiao.

I read Tyson's psychological profile on the net somehow. It stated that he did have mental issues with attributed to his violent tendancies.

    What was Patterson's nickname?
    The Gentleman of Boxing

Yeah, I've heard lots of fighters cry. Oscar actually said he cried after he lost against Tito I think.

You work so hard to achieve a Win and you think you are going to win, but then you lose and it's a shock to your psyche.

Hell, even Alexander the Great used to cry according to stories. If it's fact, not sure; I wasn't there, but that is what I read

In the end, Floyd by the accounts I read, will be known as a nice person and people cry when a nice person dies; not an asswhole...although, maybe not in all cases.

Tyson: he has some issues. I wouldn't count him as a "born" fighter like some of those kids that start fighting and beating people up at 6. I heard he hung around girls for the first part of his childhood. And kids that take special attention to animals, like birds, tend to have a soft side. Funny when we are talking about the same Tyson that punched the crap out of fighters...but he did kiss and make up after the fight.

I like that one quote during the documentaries about how one fighter was asked "what is it like to fight Tyson?" and he replied "He fights like you stole something from him"

It wasn't until that incident with the pigeon that he found his balls. After that, it was about proving he was a tough guy. From Bullied to the Bully. He did some real crazy **** as a youth.

Who knows exactly what he has. They did say he has "low-self-esteem."

I wouldn't be surprised if he has ADHD or something or maybe it's just those freaky high hormones made him out of control. Remember your teen years? How were they? For me, I was a crazy MF. Good times, but hard times...kind of glad I calmed down...but I miss the adrenaline.

I still want to see what Mike says in full from that documentary that came out recently. Lots of books written about him as well as video documentaries, but I want to hear it from his mouth. Not that his view now might not be construed a bit, but I want to see what he says.

fk me, what a boring thread this has become
Nobody cares about Patterson's personal life,,
bottom line: he was just another overrated old time fighter who couldnt hang out with any of today's fighters. And yes, im talking all weightclasses.
Even Bernard Popkins would eat him for dinner

Who overrates him? I used to live in the Catskills and nobody even knew who he was there. He is never in any discussion of greatest heavyweight champions. He is largely a forgotten fighter.

Except by you, you have a vendetta.

Ingemar Johannsen? I'll check that out.

            "Victory over myself"....roger that.

Yes. Remnick is a pretty good writer.
            Here, watch this.

If you want to see an all-out war, watch the third fight as well as the Chuvalo fight.

Victory Over Myself is pretty rare but if you can find it, read it. Top five best autobiographies I've ever read, easily.

lol you seriously think Patterson couldn't beat any light heavyweight or cruiserweight out there? I would pick him over any active fighter within his weight class.

The truth is that you started a pointless and idiotic thread and yet somehow got intelligent responses on it. You are obviously totally clueless about boxing.

The threadstarter posts nothing but trash, don't mind him.

Patterson did have "killer instinct". He felt that he was fighting for everyone, not just for himself, like most world champions of that era. I don't think he was necessarily "soft".

His chin may have been "weak" although I would say that it's more possible that he was just not big enough to fight 200+ lb heavyweights such as Liston and Ali. He had no problems taking whatever Joey Maxim or Archie Moore threw at him.

He got off the canvas to win many times unlike Tyson.

Tyson was basically a Floyd Patterson with size and strength. Tyson however lacked the longevity of Patterson who fought at top level for nearly 20 years.
