Good to see that RJJ never fought Eubank

Why do you relate everything back to Calzaghe?
Calzaghe hadnt had a single championship fight and was a prospect. Jones was P4P number 1. Poor parellel.
But then you always say Eubank was "shot" when he fought Calzaghe lol. So why would he have been a logical opponent for Jones? You own yourself every day.Comment

Did I ever say he was shot or more past his prime. You were the one who stated he was almost finished his career. Would RJJ have knownWhy do you relate everything back to Calzaghe?

What the hell does one have to do with the other? If I was a RJJ I would be very pleased since if he had won the fight he would have GOT NO CREDIT ATT ALL EVEN IF HE WON BY KO.
Let’s use Hatton – Mayweather for example. Hatton was undefeated and won a title at WW before the Mayweather fight against a good boxer. Hatton moved up 7 pounds and he lost. Till Today he gets no credit beating him.
While Eubank didn’t win a title at 175 before wanting to fight RJJ. Had RJJ won like Mayweather done they would just say that Eubanks best was at 168 and never was good at LHW.Comment

You said Eubank was "shot" and "weight drained" when Calzaghe fought him.
So your thread is self-hating. Because theoretically if Jones had fought Eubank at 175, you wouldnt give Jones credit anyway - for those very reasons.
Keep owning yourself though. Its fun to watch.Comment

The point of the thread really isn't about RJJ. If he had fought Eubank RJJ and lost. He would get no credit people would be saying that he is a SMW fighter and never was good at LHW and would get no credit. Hatton moved up 7 poundsComment

I think the case against Mayweather in this instance has more to do with him skipping Hatton at 140 after he beat Tszyu and then forcing him to fight him later at 147. I won't make any judgements on whether it was Hatton who really didn't want the fight after Tszyu or whether it was Mayweather's fault. But beating Hatton at 147 is not as great a win as beating him at 140. It just isn't. Hatton's undefeated at 140 and is an ATG there. That 147 title is misleading as he arguably lost to Collazo, who's no great fighter. if Mayweather had fought Hatton at atleast a catchweight he would've got a lot more credit.
But I agree it probably would be the same with Jones if he fought him at LHW. He should've fought both Collins and Eubank at 168, now that would've enhanced his legacy greatly.Last edited by Fighting Pride; 12-18-2008, 08:34 AM.Comment

I said past his prime and weight drained and yes he was. The last 2 fights before Calzaghe he was fighting at LHW and was preparing to fight WBC intercontinental light-heavyweight titleYou said Eubank was "shot" and "weight drained" when Calzaghe fought him.
