I am enraged at this news. I dont see how Tarver, although exercising his rematch clause, even deserves another shot. I rather see Paul williams step up in weight and come at Chad. I think that would be interesting, but not a huge payday for Dawson... I can dream though.
I really wish Calzaghe would have fought Dawson but what happens happen. Dawson should stay focused and not take Antonio for granted, because that would be a fatal mistake. But if he stays as focused as he was the first time, then he could be as dominant or even more dominant as he was the first time. Everything is on his side and the only way that Tarver has of winning is by a lucky knockout, and there is no many times you can have THAT much luck before in runs out.
Tarver's old, boring, and is all mouth...no substance. I agree with another poster here, though a rematch is in his contract he got beat soundly last time and doesnt deserve another shot. Lame fight...here comes another 12 rounder with no knockdowns...yay....can't wait.
I agree with another poster here who said that HBO should be showcasing guys like Tavoris Cloud. That's where the attention should be..on promising up and comers. Cloud isn't ready for mega fights yet but he's on his way and is fun to watch which is a hell of a lot more than I can say for Tarver. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Reason: typo's...afterthought

The whole point of a rematch clause is that you don't have to deserve one! Tarver, and defending champions in general, would no doubt claim that being the (former) champion is sufficient.

I agree....rematches clause prevent the winning fighter from fighting anyone else but the person they fought last regardless of if they drop a belt....case in point.
Sergio Mora had a rematch clause with Forrest so even if he dropped the WBC belt, Vernon was still his next fight.
