Drop his title? Why would he have to do that?

Tarver has a rematch clause doesn't he? Wouldn't that mean Dawson would have to fight him to keep the titles?

Does he? I dunno. He dropped a title to fight Tarver in the first place so I dont see what the big deal would be.

If he rematches anyone, it should be Johnson. He also couldve waited a couple weeks till Calzaghe announces what hes gonna do.

Tarver has a rematch clause in the contract of the first fight which cant be avoided unless dawson drop the belt he won in their first fight...and i doubt he would drop the belt unless the fighter he would face are joe calzaghe...hopkins or roy jones.

I've not read anywhere that the rematch clause was void if Dawson dropped the belt. I don't think that vacating would get him out of it.

That's just my opinion based upon other rematch clauses though, possibly I've missed a report that says otherwise.

I think you might be right, Even dropping the belt might not get him out of a rematch, Dawson was the one chasing the fight on all front since last year so i expect tarver to have all sort of clause in the contract in case dawson wins the fight.

Yeah, there is definately a rematch clause. There is no way this fight would happen if there wasn't. Dawson doesn't want it and noone really wants to see it.

Proof positive that Al Haymon has HBO in his pocket. First Taylor gets an easy fight with a shot Lacy. Now Tarver gets a totally undeserved rematch. Lucky for HBO they have some great fights lined up before that to get this one over.
