No reason he should. Kessler is a great fighter but, in terms of profile if nothing else, he is no Calzaghe. No way would Dawson fight him just to add the name to his résumé, not at present anyway.

BTW, a question for those who know more about Dawson than I do, is there actually a possibility he could fight effectively at SMW?

he said he could move down if he needed to and there were no more lucrative fights @175. But that was a while ago he said that and it seems like his management wants to establish him as premiere LHW and let the overcrowded SMW division move up to him. Theres not enough belts for all of them when Miranda, Abraham, Pavlik, Ward, Dirrell get into the mix there.

Where did you get that from? The reports I've seen say Taylor's team don't want to fight Froch because HBO don't think it will sell. I haven't seen any reports that Froch doesn't want to fight Taylor - can you post a link to one?

Froch is desperate for big fights, no way in hell would he 'duck' Taylor (or Kessler). In Taylor's case he doesn't even have the choice, Taylor is his mandatory challenger and Froch's only leverage is the belt. It's Taylor's call; I think he wants the fight - he probably thinks it will be easier than Kessler, and he is probably right - but it seems HBO have pulled the plug on it. With Froch free, I can see Froch v. Kessler in Copenhagen happening. Taylor can piss about with Winky in the meantime, then fight the winner.

If kessler hadnt of pulled out of the miranda fight he would be in position to get the fights he wants. If i remember correctly he wasnt champ when he signed to fight miranda so one of the excuses I just read doesnt make any sense. He shouldnt be bitching.

There was 2 seperate negotiations. Kessler backed out the first time because no belt was on the line. Then Miranda was suddenly highly ranked by WBA but that time Miranda negotiated with both Kessler and Abraham. Miranda ditched Kessler for Abraham when they got down to the real nitty gritty.

There is bigger fights for Kessler at 168, than there is for Pavlik and Dawson at their weight classes and Kessler is the one getting the **** thrown at him for wanting to stay put.

Now why the **** would Kessler fight at joke like Edison Miranda, after that beating he took from Abraham?!
He wants the IBF fight against Bute, or the WBC fight against Froch..And since the FROG is fighting Taylor, he probably has to settle for Bute..

Kessler's camp has it figured out..get the 2 belts, in either WBA/WBC og WBA/IBF, then he gets interesting for the american crowd...

Besides, Hopkins is scared ****less of taking a beating from Kessler, since he got his ASS WHOOPED by JC, and Kessler barely lost that fight in comparison..
