he always gives good instructions in the corner, but i guess something is missing in his training camps...conditioning is something his fighters often lack of...and maybe he doesnt get the right sparring partners? I dont know!

The fighters he's trained werent as bad as your assesment, i think he's not that good of a trainer, plain and simple...If you have trained with the man for 3-4 months, you'd have a good game plan going in, his game plan sucks....

hes better than someone like Floyd Senior, who lives off his sons name and gets big name fighters to train with him for that reason alone.

There you go, Floyd Sr is a good trainer, has trained world champions and his fighters dont get blown out like Buddys do..

I agree with all this especially about Mayweather living off his sons name.

DLH was actually easier to hit when Floyd helped him adopt Floyds style of defence........... he got hit more against Castellijo,Vargas.

Joan Guzman was defensively excellent before and he has always had fast reflexes and hands

Trainers cant make a GREAT fighter GREAT but they can help them a lot though .....i feel there is waay to much criticism for McGirt and Steward and too much praise for Mayweather.

It's not all the fighters fault. The trainer needs to INSPIRE them in the ring. He needs to find a young and extremely hungry fighter that he can mold and inspire. When that happens, he will learn as well and become a top-notch trainer.

No one is saying its all the fighters fault, but if you need your trainer to inspire you for the biggest fight of your life then some serious questions need to be asked about your attitude

What is it McGirt should have done exactly ? he cant give Paulie a punch to keep Hatton off him.

Any trainer can teach the fundamentals. But, it takes a special type to push the fighter to the next level and the next. Even when the fighter wants to quit, the trainer inspires them to give a little bit more. Many of the great boxers today, have great trainers that shaped their success. Calzaghe had his dad, Pacquiao has Freddie, etc.

Unlike Paulie, the great fighters believed in the system and believed in their trainers. Paulie could have thrown the right hand more and throw more combinations rather than try to be defensive. McGrit in this respect failed to inspire his fighter to trust his advice. But that comes with experience with one another and in training.
