Mayorga - De La Hoya took a dive

Hey any of you guys out there still pondering that "liver punch", here's Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga's comments on De La Hoya getting "knocked out".

FINALLY! someone with the balls to tell it like it is!!!

VIVA MAYORGA! - even though I think he's going to lose lol - at least he'll give us our monies worth unlike those other 2 chumps last saturday.

    PEACE!

Mayorga - De La Hoya took a dive

I wouldn't say Oscar took a dive in the sense that he gave Hopkins the win. I think it was more the case that Oscar used that liver shot to get out of a hopeless situation. He we just outclassed and sized in that fight, and he realized it.

I Agree Delahoya Was Smart In Taking The Dive. I Guess He Saved Himself An Embarassing Beating In The Later Rounds. :d

Since when does Ricardo Mayorga's opinion matter? The guy is a jackass who will say anything if you put a mic in his face.

I hate all these people talking **** about DLH when its obvious they have never stepped foot in a ring and dont know what its like to actually get hit with a body shot.

        Go watch fight like

        Roy Jones vs Virgil Hill
        Gatti vs Dorrin
        Tapia vs Soto
and Chavez, Micky Ward or early Shane Mosley fight. All three have had fights were they stopped guys on body shots.

i agree totally having boxed myself sometimes the hardest punches arent the one's that smack you on the chin, they are the punches that you don't expect to hit you.
the body is also the hardest place for any boxer to toughthen up.
look at dorrin he's a world class fighter but got hit on the button, he was never getting up and nobody expected him to.
but with de la hoya even de la hoya thought it would'nt happen but when it did.............. goodnight.
you've got to understand that when you can't breave you can't think, and when the ten seconds are over it's too late to think.

I totally agree and I have felt the paralizing affect of the dreaded liver shot.....but

The shot that took out DLH didn't really seem that hard. When I think of the type of body shot that takes people out, I think of the crushing full force zingers that Mickey Ward would throw, or the shot that took out Dorin. I see shots like that and I say to myself "that guy isn't getting up", but the B-Hop shot didn't really look that hard to me. With that said, I didn't feel it and there isn't any real way to guess how hard it really was, so its all speculation.

did we not know oscar was gonna be out powered here?
so understand that in order for hopkins to hurt him it didnt have to be a HIS strongest shot
just strong enough to hurt oscar which it did
the punch itself didnt land clean and beautful
but ur focusing on the wrong things
first he didnt see the punch comin at all
if anythin he was braced for a right
second hopkins jumped in with all his weight
                    thats why it hurt
he leaps in and just stabs him with it
it was like a prision shank
                    wonder where he learned that?
