His last opponent Virchis was rated top 10 by the Ring magazine and Gomez outboxed him fairly easily. The wins over McCall and Virchis made him Vitali's mandatory, deservedly so.
Gomez' fluke loss to Diaz was the same year that Haye lost to Carl Thompson.

it would be unfair for Haye to jump in front of him and get to fight Vitali
i think Gomez would beat Haye
He is very talented and underrated

Originally posted by Silencers View PostYeah, Haye is said to want to fight once more before Klitschko in March, Gomez would get pretty good money to fight Haye and would get good exposure if he wins, making a fight with Klitschko bigger than it would be now, has a pretty good story too, Gomez was one of the best cruiserweights ever, Haye was the king at cruiserweight, and it could make for a good fight.

Perhaps Gomez needs more money for coke? A fight with Vitali would make him far more money than a fight with someone else for an interim title.
Anyway most people have never heard of Gomez, so Vitali fighting Haye would be a MUCH better fight for the fans and for the sport of boxing. And, it would generate three times as much revenue than Vitali-Gomez.
Screw the belts, let's make the fight most fans want to see: Haye vs. Vitali.
