    still not an excuse.

    the losses hurt him.

if you look at louis , holmes or ali.

louis - only lost in physical prime was to a former heavyweight champ when he was still young and green.

holmes - first loss was a disputed , controversial one and he was past his physical prime imo.

ali - first lost was to a HOFer and after years of layoff.

wlad - has 3 losses in his physical prime to pretty much nobodies. sanders has some good skills but he was a part-time boxer. lamon is tough but a limited fighter. ross purrity was a tough journeyman. those losses hurt him more than any of his wins will ever help his resume.

Hard for him to get cred when his division sucks, and he can't fight the one guy that could really threaten him.

if he walked into ring and handled business with confidence and extreme prejudice then half of NSB would be wladowns type posters. He's just a terrible combination of awkward and chinny. watch the first 30 seconds of a vitali klit. fight--thats some thing to get excited about no matter how shallow the division.

              i blame steward.

              he made lewis boring too.

young wlad and lennox were very active and exciting.

Lewis is considered one of the top heavyweights ever and lost a fight in his supposed physical prime. What I don't really like about Wlad was that he never avenged his losses, apart from the Brewster fight.

Schmeling was considered over the hill at the time Louis lost to him and if you can say Louis was green, can't the same be said for Wlad? A lot of great fighters have lost to fighters that they shouldn't have lost to, Hagler, Monzon, Hopkins etc. have all had losses early in their career to guys who were not on their level talent wise yet are considered great fighters. Give Wlad time, his path is actually pretty similar to Lewis' with more losses, Lewis never got the respect he deserved when he reigned as champion either, he does now, maybe Wlad can end up the same way.

Thing is, Lewis fought good people while he was chalking up those losses, Wlad isn't/can't.

And Wlad will never end up with true respect, because who will he fight to earn it?

He beat good guys in retrospect, a lot of the guys he beat back then were criticized as being nobodies as well, Wlad could be looked upon the same way, obviously Wlad won't get guys like Holyfield and Tyson on his resume but maybe he won't need them. Time will tell.

louis was about 22 when he lost to schmelling he also had barely over 20 fights. same as when wlad lost to puritty. a loss to a schmelling is better than a loss to puritty.

wlad has 2 losses around the age of 27 (prime years) and with more than 40 plus fights under his belts.

losses to oliver mccall and hasim rahman are better than losses to corrie sanders and lamon brewster. unlike wlad , lennox also avenged every single one of his losses.

his path is similar to lennox? who are gonna be the tysons and holyfields he's gonna make his name against?
