I'm still nonplussed at how anyone can claim to dislike the Magic Man. Once you get past the surface, he's an incredibly likeable individual with articulate and insightful views on the sport. And classy, in victory or defeat. When he outpointed Ngoudjo, he made a point of praising Herman's performance and highlighting the ways he had been surprised and impressed by it. When he lost to Cotto and Hatton, he praised both their performances. The pre-fight trash volleys are as much pep-talks to himself as anything else. Some fighters just need that to get the self belief and confidence running through their veins, some don't, different strokes for different folks. But Malignaggi is definitely good folks. Open up your hearts, people. Paul is an exceptional young man.

It's just a big shame that those fragile hands really do seem to have been the bane of his career so far.
brillianpost, alot of american fighters and fight fans especially are stuck in a microwave mentality. talents of fighters like paulie, joe calzaghe and hector camacho are often overlooked, these fighters have overcome their own physcial frailties to carve out successful careers as boxers (not an easy thing to do). instead the microwave mentality in fight fans is looking for the big punching KO artist which is why fighters like kirkland and valero are so well known.

what they fail to realize is that these fighters although exciting do lack in technique, and when they are beaten they are often labelled as overrated fighters who were exposed. its one of the things that i hate about boxing fans and especially american boxing fans.

as for pauli i agree with you, at times he has seemed like an extremly likeable guy, all the pre-fight trash is something that he uses just to psyche himself up i think. after the event, in post fight interviews he seems like a real nice guy, in fact people who have gotten to know him personally say the same thing. its a shame that hes been speaking of retiring because i really enjoy watching him fight.

A two-handed Paulie can be a legitimate joy to watch, though, like in the first N'dou fight you cited. That's the Malignaggi I'm always hoping to see, the reason, besides his guttiness, that I follow his fights. Hope he can get back to that level of confidence and start using both hands freely again, because if not, like you said, things aren't looking that bright for him.
I remember seeing the first Ndou fight, and it was the first time I had seen Paulie fight, and I thought he was a legit threat to Hatton. Although, I wasn't a fan as such, I was impressed. But after that, the hand problems, then the lack of confidence, like you said, unless he gets that back I dunno what he can do.

It's always a shame to see a fighters career wasted due to an injury.

Iheard he's dropping down to the 'feather'weight division.

Biggest name outside Hatton at 140 is Zab. Try to get a fight wit him.

He should fight Gato Figeroua, maybe an undercard on B.A.D.
