Roy Jones Jr. had pretty much the same opinion on BBC, but he had one
additional, salient point: how many goddam channels do we have to choose from?
Even a righteous megafight can get buried under all that **** -- and while an
existing boxing fan can wade through it, chances are slimmer that potential
new boxing fans get turned on to the sport.Comment

yep co sign....but jones calzaghe and pac-de la hoya got an entire 24/7..wtf?????Not simply seen, but the right types of fights have to have the major promotions.
Vazquez Marquez I had 0 promotion. Maybe an ad on LA radio here and there, but other than that, absolutely nothing. They didn't even have t shirts for sale at the fight. The third fight was just almost as bad as far as the promotion.
I got a little card in the mail announcing the fight.Comment

At this point, its really up to the fighters to say "no" to the orgs. "Here, **** you, your belt and your fee." Its been done before.
But it has to be done collectively though, and we know that isn't going to happen because the belts are just bargaining chips.Comment

I read an interesting piece in Ring today. It was mostly about race and boxing in this day and age. Teddy Atlas brought up a great point though. He basically said that if boxing weren't so much of a sport for ********** and more of a "white" type of sport, there would be endless funds to keep gyms open.Comment
