Examining the Lopez-Medina fight

I'm telling you, I've seen enough fights, whether they were big fights or preliminaries between guys with losing records, when a guy gets knocked down it's customary to look over to the corner and assure them that they are OK.
Some just like to be reassured by their corner when they are in distress.Comment

i understand fighters look at thier corner im not argueing that..but its the way he looked..it wasnt a reassuring look he gave them..that fight was 100 percent fixed..he was falling for no reason..it wasnt as bad as the rahman-crowley fight..but it was obviousI'm telling you, I've seen enough fights, whether they were big fights or preliminaries between guys with losing records, when a guy gets knocked down it's customary to look over to the corner and assure them that they are OK.

I think Medina plainly bottled it.
As soon as he felt Juanma's punches on his arms and midriff his balls shrunk to the size of peanuts and he was looking for a way out.
It shouldn't happen to a guy with as many fights as Medina but he's obviously not in a good place mentally.Comment

The way you're describing it almost indicts ever Mario Cawley fight he had lost then. It wasn't that he had no heart, he was throwing them.
Until I see conclusive evidence to the contrary, what happened was that Medina wanted to have his pie and eat it to. By that I mean he wanted his paycheck and his teeth so he could eat pie on the flight home.Comment

WOW....I had actually missed this undercard...I can't believe how bluntly obvious this kat made it that he was going to take a dive...the guy barely got hit...he def took a dive...now why he did it?? That’s still up in the air but this was no fight maybe once he saw the fight he realized that he didn’t do as good of job of “selling it” as he thought so he figured he better come up with something...but no doubt this was def a dive...and an embarrassment to boxing…In light of the recent comments by Medina, if you only look at Medina's actions throughout the fight his comments could have some merit. Either that or Medina was too frightened to hit back. But if you watch from the start, there isnt so much as a jab from Medina, he just waits to let himself be drawn to the ropes.
Also look at Medina when he goes down for the first time. He looks like an actor, as though he doesn't know which body part to touch to feign pain. Then he looks to his corner, not in a desperate way, but in a sort of 'yeah im following the plan' sort of way.
Maybe Medina was just slaughtered, but I'm just inviting people to have a look at the fight again and see would you give Medina's comments any consideration, before we find out the truth.

I'm not saying that the fight was fixed. But that look he gave the corner was no ordinary look. It had guilt and disgust in it...
On the other hand maybe Medina always looks like that...?Comment
