I wasn't going to order the fight, but I didn't want to miss out on the chance that Manny might actually beat Oscar. I bought it at about 5:55.

It was overpriced, but definitely worth it.

that's not the major reason.....that's called a FIGHT PARTY!

happens all the time. the reason the fight didn't do as well as thought is b/c the majority of ppl felt the fight was a joke to begin with. oscar has plenty fans, so that's the reason it sold what it did, but had the fight been taken more seriously by the boxing public, it would've done better.....

Good post. We did the same thing as well. We had more people at my place then ever before for a fight. Tons of casual fans called me out of nowhere to ask if I was ordering it and after they were asking about the next big fight. If the economy was better im sure many more would have ordered it.

1.25 million people witnessing why giths shouldn't be on pay-per-view. A nice main event but a terrible undercard with fighters no one cares to see at this stage of their careers. At $54.95, unheard of, and even Oscar says - yeah the economy is tough. So if you recognize that, why not treat the fans willing to dish out that amount of money with a credible undercard?

          ESPN puts on better cards.

WOW!! GREAT NIGHT for boxing..hell ima floyd fan and i hate pacquiao and im not even gonna crap on pacquiao..good for him! and GREAT for boxing. How Dana White using "UFC91 will do 1.2 this and 1.2 that".. and seeing how he was 400,000 buys off..at the same time him sayin it was "bad night for boxing"...yet the "bad night for boxing" is able to do MUCH more buys over what was billed as "The biggest fight in UFC history".. Even as ****ty the economy is boxing gets the highest payper view buy of the year...again.

umm that happens for every big fight. do you honestly think anyone orders a fight without having a party? I've never seen a PPV where there weren't at least 15 people there

Hatton - Mayweather did 850,000, and that was without the De La Hoya affect!

Exacltly. UFC was at its peak when Tito and Chuck were still good fighters, since then it's been on a slow decline.

Without the Delahoya effect is if Mayweather never fought Delahoya. Hatton v. Mayweather had the Delahoya effect. Just like it will with Pac now that he beat Delahoya.
