the 1st HOFer he fought was probably castillo that was in 02.

pacquiao fought barrera in 03. pacquiao is almost 2 years younger.

    you do the math.
    WRONG
You do the math the 1st HOF'er he fought was Genaro Hernandez in 1998.

I have no idea who is fighter of the decade but both PBF and PAc have great arguements

One more win, against Hatton or someone of that calibre, and he's at the top.

A win over Mayweather, and there would be absolutely no doubt.

Genaro Hernandez was one of the best fighters of the late 80s and early 90s, but was old and shot when he fought Mayweather in his last fight.

The decade? In any weight class? From 1998-2008?

It's a toss up between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Some might say it's Calzaghe, but he wasn't around fighting in the States during the late 90's.

You know who i'd pick? Bernard Hopkins.

Yes. Either Mayweather, Pacquiao or Hopkins.

That said, I believe Manny was extremely fortunate to beat Marquez (I'm not entirely sure he deserved the draw either) and I don't believe MAB and Morales were in their absolute primes.

A showdown between the two would settle all arguments. I think Floyd has too much for Manny. Too big. Too strong. Too smart.

On the surface of the ODH result it appears that Manny has tightened his game up significantly. I guess both he and Roach know he can't afford to continue to lunge in like a wild man whilst going up the weight divisions. Against Oscar the plan of get-in-combo-get-out worked perfectly. But will he retain that discipline against someone who isn't a walking punch-bag, as Oscar was? Someone who has a nasty (from Manny's perspective) habit of NOT getting hit and then hitting you back? I'm not sure.

Either way, both fighters are worthy candidates. Although, as has been mentioned, BHOP's achievements are pretty substantial also.

            I vote for Danny Williams.
The GOAT danny can't be called the best of this decade because so many hws time travelled to avoid him. Botha is a coward for ducking danny, just like the Klits after danny retired Vitali.

It's either him, Floyd or Bernard.

If Hernandez was shot then so was Morales for all 3 fights and Barrera was half down the back side of his career and completely shot for the 2nd fight with Pac.

Agree totally, if Pacquiao beats Hatton in the summer next year
and went on to fight and beat Mayweather, then he is.

I'd have to vote Bernard Hopkins fighter of the decade.

Because Hopkins was already a PPV attraction in the mid/late 90's. Mayweather was also coming up in the late 90's. I think it was Mayweather vs. Gatti that put him on the map. Pacquiao is now just getting into the superstar status.

Hopkins is also fighter of the decade because of what he's accomplished throughout his career.

What do Hopkins, Mayweather and Pacquiao have in common? They all whooped on the Golden Boy.
