He died about 24 years ago from Lung Cancer. After he stopped fighting, he started smoking. Tragic really, the guy meant a lot to Filipino boxing. His presence in the sport is still evident through his son Gabriel Elorde Jr., who is a promoter and manager in the Philippines, and through the Elorde Boxing Gym.Comment

I already made a thread about Gabriel flash ELorde a couple of years ago and the disscusion there were insight full....except of course the usual nutcase xcaret who by the way have a similar ver. for the Filipinos ...perry the platypus(2008) and left hook tua (2008)....

thats sad because a lot of our boxers specially in our home country are good.Fortunately PAC came around.I can name some who could have been more famous specially in the US where the mainstream fans are if only they were given the opportunity...DODIE BOY PENALOSA (brother of GERRY who is also a POLLO VICTIM and drags his left leg while fighting,Rolando Navarette Ceferino Garcia Ben Villaflor Little Dado....
