Prime vs prime Erik Morales would LITERALLY MURDER Manny..
When did pac improve since the first Morales fight?? His 9 rounds it took to beat Diaz who got a GIFT DECISION against a shot Morales? His bull**** performance against Barrera in the rematch?? Or the asskicking he recieved from Marquez..twice? when EXACTLY did he improve?? Quite frankly this "pac has improved so much" it the most BIGGEST MYTHS in boxing today..

ALOT of good boxers wouldve beat THAT VERSION of oscar last saturday..are you pacfans gonna deny that?

...it means Pacquiao has gotten THAT much better since his loss against Morales.

Some of you repeating this, "Pacquiao wasn't in his prime" stuff don't seem to realize that Erik could have retired a hall of fame fighter before he moved up to 130....or maybe you do. Unified Super Bantamweight champion, two-time WBC Featherweight champion. He had already beaten an impressive list of opponents and only had the disputed loss to Barrera on his record. He was the vet taking on the upcoming phenom.

I know some of you were here talking about this fight before it happened and there were a large number of Pacquiao fans and boxing pundits who felt he was going to defeat Morales. Erik was just coming off a rather poor performance against Barrera and many thought he was on the slide.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, had just run through Barrera and nearly did the same to Juan Manuel Marquez. I distinctly remember him being hailed as the most dangerous offensive talent in the sport. He was this whirlwind with crushing power and a relentless attacking style. Rightfully so, Pacquiao was a scary prospect for anyone at that point. He has certainly improved in some aspects, to be fair, but he certainly wasn't some green one-dimensional fighter back then either.

If we're talking both guys at their best, lets think about the Morales that took on Espadas and Jesus Chavez against the Pacquiao who defeated Marquez in their second fight. You guys really think Morales wouldn't be able to beat that version of Pacquiao in his own respective prime? I'd say you're wrong.

Erik won their first fight comfortably. The only reason it was close is because Erik is a beast and he turned Southpaw in the 12th and slugged it out.

Pacquiao was considered the most dangerous offensive fighter in the sport when Erik fought him. That's no bull****. I was here talking **** with Pacquiao fans regularly before that fight happened.

A prime Erik Morales (say, the guy who stopped Guty Espadas) would have beaten the Pacquiao who fought Juan Manuel Marquez the second time.
lol @ you shaming yourself with that avi

I'd take Pacquiao over Morales prime for prime any day. Morales is a great fighter and one of the top 10 of the last 20 years, but he is no Pacquiao.

First off, Morales is always a beast regardless if he beat Manny or not.

Second, Morales was on the down side, but not shot. He proved in the Diaz fight that he could still box and brawl well enough to beat a champ at 135.

Third Pac has improved so much since the first fight with Morales, people who says otherwise don't know **** about boxing. If you think the Pac that fought Morales was in his prime you don't know nothing about boxing. Pac is in his peak now and will have 2 more fights before he retires. Hatton then maybe Floyd.

4th Morales is one of my favorite fighters off all time and if both fighters where to both fight in there primes I would favor Pac. Hes become much more versatile with his punches and defense and movement are beyond what they where against Morales 1.

5th Pac vs JMM is always a close fight due to their styles. JMM is a great counter puncher boxer. While Pac is a great fighter brawler/boxer. But if they fought now at 140, Pac will clearly win, by knocking JMM multiple times again, but as always JMM will get back up, but he won't win as usual.

6th Lastly, Morales is a ATG, but Pac has already surpass his greatness and will be remembered as the better all time great when all is said and done. Love both fighters and much respect for both for giving us fans the most exciting fights possible.

I agree with all your points. Pacquiao has far surpassed what Morales has accomplished in boxing.

Big call. I think to say he would not have a chance is excessive.

It would pretty much be a pick 'em fight IMO.

People are forgetting just how good Erik was.
