It doesn't proved Dawson will win, it's just your opinion.

Joe Calzaghe is almost 37 and has been fighting with brittle hands for 10 years. He dominated the SMW division for a decade and then beat the 2 biggest names in the sport at LHW. To those who say he hasn't "proved" anything, there is nothing he can do to "prove" himself to them. They're just mad that JC is an All-Time great that never lost and gets to go out on top still UNDEFEATED LHW, SMW CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!

what joe did at 168 is special, but that division was weak as hell and when he did step up he barely gets past a 43 year old hopkins and can't KTFO a shot rjj...

joe is not an ATG... but he's a HOFer.

if joe wants to be an ATG he needs to do more... its so ****in sad that he wasted his best years in the UK fighting eurobums

Dawson became a serious potential candidate for a fight with JC in October 2008 , after beating Tarver. Clazaghe was already commited to fight RJj shortly afterwards. You might concievably make a case for one fight earlier, in April 2008 when he beat Johnson. Calzaghe was fighting B-Hop (you know, the guy who was, and still is top 5 p4p, was 2nd in the division and a boxing legend) at much the same time. Before that Dawson was just another alphabelt holder.

So, for the benefit of those who still don't get it, Calzaghe has never ducked Dawson because he has never had the opportunity to duck Dawson. Retiring (if he does) is not ducking. For fighters in Calzaghe's position there is always 'a' Dawson, and if he fought and beat Chad there would be somebody else. And somebody else. And somebody else. The smart guys know when to get out, when you have enough money, when the hunger isn't quite there, or when you start to slow and tire. We could all provide a very long list of elite fighters who weren't smart when the time came... and that includes perhaps the greatest of them all.

The really sad thing is that you jokers can't even understand your own hypocrisy. Say Dawson and Calzaghe fought next year. Dawson would be 26, Calzaghe 38. Is that a 'prime' Calzaghe or a 'shot' one; an 'old man' at the end of his career? Would would such a win do for Dawson's 'legacy'?

Both are great fighters. They might yet meet, but Dawson will make his name (or not) against a new generation, not Calzaghe, Johnson or Tarver. That's just the way it is. Now grow up, quit the ignorant bullcr*p, throw away the hate-tinted dumbass spectacles and give a great fighter the respect he deserves.

            Have a nice day.
smh....Point i'm trying to make is that THERE IS NOBODY ELSE!!!! WHO ELSE? Dawson is the champion in the division, he's beat the "MEN" that beat the fighter that so called "cemented" Calzaghes Legacy, theres nobody in his weight classes that can match his boxing ability...Some compare Calzaghe to what Floyd has done, but time and time and time and time again critics would say "This guy hits to hard for Floyd, he's a young undefeated champion that would give him all he could handle." and yet time and time again Floyd proved why he is the most gifted fighter in the world...The same critics said that for JC against B-hop and Roy...Difference is, when those 2 even showed flashes of the prime versions of themselves Calzghe was on the canvas hurt once..I can understand your logic if JC was to beat Dawson and Pavlik or Jermain Taylor came calling..But this is THE GUY in HIS division with THE TITLE...Who retires when THAT guy is lurking in his shadow???????

Dawson is the champion in the division
Dawson hasn't beaten ****, he's beat 2 40 year old neither of which have the resume of the 39 year old and the 43 year old Calzaghe has beat. Only difference being is was a old and worn Calzaghe that beat them.

Tarver it as shot as Jones and Johnson was never more than a B rank fighter anyway.
