I think this thread proves Carl Froch divides opinion.

Barry McGuigan made a very valid point about the weigh in, Froch looked v nervous and I think he bought that nervous energy into the ring and didn’t stick to his game plan. It was a fight boxing needed two guys who wanted to win a title and gave everything, I mean the farce that was ODLH and Manny I want (and I am sure you all do) to see the best guys fighting each other in each division. If Froch takes out Taylor (that is if) I am sure he will then go after Bute and Kessler (while still calling Calzaghe out). If Taylor were to win I am not sure he would go after Kessler, I think he would wet his pants.

Rob McCracken in Froch’s corner kept telling him to box but he just kept going to war. He has unfortunately always kept his left hand far too low, and I think Taylor can exploit this however he has stamina problems, against Pavlik he shot his bolt trying to finish the job and he couldn’t. That’s why when he chucks the kitchen sink at Froch don’t be surprised if he is still standing there. Froch was hit flush with some big bombs from Pascal and he didn’t really wobble too much. I think both fighters have weaknesses and that makes it very interesting and for me a 50/50 fight. I think in my heart Frock can beat Taylor but I think he will be sparked by Kessler inside 8 rounds.

Fair play to Froch he wants to fight the best in the division and from day one has said he wanted the WBC title. The interesting point was brought up that Taylor could have fought for the title but instead decided to have an eliminator against a broken shell called Lacey (smacks of trying to rebuild his confidence to me so if he is a little delicate mentally).

Regards the comments about Pavlik it’s a shame Calzaghe didn’t get hold of him before Hopkins did because he would have embarrassed him even more. And I agreed with the gentleman who said Pavlik and Froch aren’t alike, if anything Pavlik is more like Kessler to be honest.

On Kessler I think he is the man of the division, when he reappears from his native Denmark I think he will clean up the division, no other “champion” apart from Kessler has beaten a champion. Ok Joe has left the division but for me that means Kessler is the rightful number one.
