i'm gonna say. The reason why they stopped it is because DLH's corner didn't want to see him get knocked out.

No it wasn't a terrible stoppage. Oscar didn't have anything left to prove. He didn't quit, his body did. He had nothing left at that point. It was just a matter of time before he would risk serious injury had the fight continued.
