Pacquiao is definately an ATG fighter. Oscar, shot or not, was still a top fighter at 154lbs and 90% of you people thought that he would easily knock out Pacquiao. but not me. hehe. and after a performance like that, how can you not be impressed by him? he fought the perfect fight against Oscar.
Pacquiao was well on his way to becoming an ATG before the De La Hoya fight anyway.Comment

i'm a filipino and a pacman fan from the bottom of my heart, but i would say that those who doubt the validity of the bout have valid points, and i would like to add some things that made me wonder about the fight too..i will be saying these things not to discredit manny's fighting ability, who's obviously an ATG, but to say that the match is indeed suspect..
i have watched the last 10 fights of manny or so..and i know that when sees a weakness in his opponent, he goes in for the kill. but what he did on the last 2 rounds was back off when he should have finished it with a KD/KO. He even turned his back repeatedly and wait for ODH at the middle of the ring or get off the ropes, even when ODH, who's usually an offensive fighter, wasn't even throwing a single punch..and he was even trained to counter-attack with the help of JMM's previous trainer...
what do we know of what really goes on on the closed door negotiations? Isn't boxing a prizefighting business controlled by big men w/ lots of dough(******** lords?)? we only see what we were allowed to see on the ring..but the truth?hmmm...the big odds were against pacman and letting him win?well do the math..
one of the members here even posted something from marcobarrera.com that an insider said that ODH will tuck-in on the 8th?and guess what? Roach "predicted" that manny will win on the 8th/9th round..
again i am not a hater, i just want a valid/fair win for manny...not some cooked up match..maybe that's why it was called a Dream match..Last edited by garpjr1188; 12-07-2008, 03:39 PM.Comment

What Manny done was brillant and all credit it to him, but i really do belive De La Hoya got the weight all wrong, i don't think he should of been at 147 in the first place, but to come in order that and only put on like 2 pound what after weigh in what was he thinking,i cound't belive Manny was actually the heavier man fight night.I thought after weigh in Oscar would go back up to say 154, and Manny at 148, but Manny coming in the heavier man, that was the concept of the fight that Manny was moving up to face the bigger man.I think Oscar fought he would get more credit if Manny weighed heavier than him and he still won,but the De La Hoya looked as weak as a kitten and looked like he didn't have a decent punch in him. Taking nothing away from Manny do he had a lot of heart and courage doin what he did and he put on a dazzling display. Some really great fights out there now for Manny etc Hatton, Mayweather, Marquez 3.And think Oscar should really consider retirement.Comment
