Enzo Maccarinelli Promises To Knock Alavarez Out

Former champion Enzo Maccarinelli (28-2, 21KOs) has promised to reclaim his WBO cruiserweight title by knockout when he meets late replacement Francisco Alvarez (11-1, 9KOs) at the ExCel Arena in London on December 6. Maccarinelli steps in the ring for the first time since the March knockout loss to David Haye. Jonathon Banks was the scheduled opponent for Saturday night, but pulled out a few days ago with an ankle injury. [details]

How can they call this a "title fight" when Alvarez is no where near the top 20 let alone top 10 by any sanctioning body? This fight is now a farce, they should have just rescheduled the Banks fight instead.

the whole card is a disgrace, sky selling these fights on the back of Oscar for 15 quid. How could big mac NOT knock this guy out, even if he does it proves nothing to me, he'll never be in David Hayes class, at least fighting Herbie Hide would have made some decent British interest

I will be watching Carl Froch rather than Khan and Enzo.

me too, now that will be two fighters of good class fighting it out for a decent vacant title. Don't get me wrong, i will watch the Sky bill, either on my naughty box or download later

                What a joke!

Alvarez is ranked #176 (not a typo) by boxrec.com at Light Heavyweight. So a fight between him and WBO #3 = the WBO Cruiserweight champion. Only in sanctioning racket madness does this make sense.

                    #15?

Troy Winston Roy is WBO #15 according to their website. Maybe they haven't had time to update since getting Enzo's kickback.
