  • Whats Next For Roy Jones?

I know "Retirement" will probably be the most sugguested term in this discussion, but this is boxing and it doesn't seem like Jones is leaning toward serious retirement yet. So, the question is whats out there for him to do?

With Hopkins saying he doesn't want a rematch with Jones at this point and a rematch with Joe doesn't seem likely...who could he fight?

Would a Pavlik or Taylor fight be possible to get him back in things or is it more likely if Jones fought again that he would do the easy fight and retire with a win?

also i'm not saying Jones isn't past his prime and he probably doesn't need to prove anything anymore, but this is boxing and the fighters will fight as long as they want be it for money glory or just cause they like to fight...jones lost to a guy that alot of people consider a top if not the top p4p fighter, he knocked him down and refused to be ko'd by him. Just cause he lost to a guy that some consider the best and a guy who has never lost that is no reason for Jones to have to quit if he chooses not to.

Retire now. If not, take a soft fight so he can retire wit a win. He's done wit big fights if not done altogether.

Cant say what he WILL do, but he SHOUL retire, given that he should have left the sport after beating Ruiz.

i see taylor as a possibility... anyone who doesnt throw 100 punches a round, would be a good start... if roy has a few seconds to set himself and start an offense he ll do decent... but with someone like joe or glenn who wont give him a chance to set, its not gonna happpen... were at the very end here... asking anything else out of roy is most likely wishful thinking... its boxing and anything can happen... but this is most likely the end of the show.

I would like to see him and think he could, get a decent ish win to show he's not completely gone, is still skilled and can put on a show. I worry for his match making skills now though, as although he climbed back to the top relatively ok, him saying he coulda beaten Joe without the cut, and mentioning Dawson and others seems crazy. He wants to avenge either Tarver or Johnson too. Glenn would KO him again and Tarver a UD, which isn't bad I spose. But I wish Roy well whatever.

Dumb question but .. could he pull a Hopkins? (referring to his matchup with Pavlik); any chance that (this fight specifically) Roy looked bad against Calslappy cause 1. its calslappy, and 2. his god awful cut? or is he TOTALLY done?

Compare Hopkins vs Cal to Hopkins vs. Pavlik; with some more training and a more orthodox opponent could Roy sc**** back some form?
