I'd give Floyd a pass if he kept his word:

"Zab had an off night, Baldomir isn't all that, this is the fight we all want to see anyway."

    Ok, cool.

But then you go an fight Baldomir right after all that? What changed, him beating Gatti?

I loved Floyd but it was clear as day that he didn't want to fight Margarito who really was his only other option.

I started a thread on this topic a while back.
Talk about anything boxing related here. Where the boxing discussion is always Non Stop!

I have heard from countless Floyd fans that the reason Floyd fought Baldomir instead of Margarito, was because Baldomir was the Undisputed/Linear WW Champ, and had more to offer than Margarito did. Me personally, i doubt that was the "real" reason. This is why:

When Arum made Floyd the $8mil offer to fight Margarito, Floyd had yet to secure an opponent for his Nov 4th ppv date. He then went desperately scrambling for an opponent, when all along, Margarito was the only one willing to step in the ring with him. Not to mention, Margo was the #1 ranked WW at the time. Floyd went looking for fights with Shane (even though Shane had already stated that he will be taking the rest of the year off). He tried to get Oscar in the ring, but Oscar was in retirement mode at the time. He even went as low as to try to secure a fight with Cory Spinks! (Thank god that idea got shut down). Floyd ONLY choices were Margarito, or Baldomir (given Baldo beat Gatti). Floyd crossed his fingers, and prayed to the gods in hope of a Baldomir win. So my question is, if all along he had the option of fighting the #1 ranked WW for a career high payday, why wait, gamble, and risk losing out, in hopes that Baldomir beats Gatti? What would Floyd have done if Gatti won? There is no way on earth Gatti's people or HBO would've let that happen again, so what would Floyd have done? An even better question is, If Floyd's intentions were to go after Baldomir's titles/belts, why was Baldomir Floyd's last choice??? If you're after the WW champ, why do u go looking for fights with guys like Spinks and Shane? Floydboyz will argue that Floyd chose Baldomir over Margarito because Baldomir had the titles. Why wasnt Baldomir Floyd's first option then?????

I don't buy that for one second. Margarito would've brought a bigger gate and bigger PPV which, in turn, meant more money for Floyd.

Sure Arum offered him $8 mil but that didn't include a share of PPV, which would have made Floyd's purse that much bigger. So I don't buy the money excuse at all.

And I don't buy all that linear title bull**** either. If that was the case, why didn't Floyd claim the linear title at 140? Nonsense. What's right is right.

Floydboyz will tell u that Arum's offer was B.S, while Goosens offer for $1 more was legit.

because that 140 pound lineal title holder was too busy not being ready to fight him---

floyd didn't want to fight baldy right away coz carlos priced himself out, he thought coz he beat zab and gatti and captured the titles, he deserved a bigger share of money, when in turn, carlos wasn't a draw-----margarito damn sure wasn't a draw either----floyd wanted shane once oscar said no mas to a fight in september, because shane just came off of a huge victory over vargas---have you people forgotten----the mosley fight was years in the making----floyd would have been bashed beyond belief had he fought margarito over baldomir, and you all know it----floyd also wanted cotto for 10 million, and arum said hell no, cotto was his rising star and floyd would have ruined that at the time----yes, floyd thought about fighting cory spinks, but didn't go through with it----during this time, margarito should have gotten his name and stauts up-----he never could until he beat cotto, and then now, with all of this plaster **** and him being ko'ed my mosley just last year, fate has a funny way of showing up---how long has tony used that?

these guys get glorified when it comes to floyd, but then they are exposed as cheaters, which they are-----so how much of a true threat was margarito? he had to cheat to win possibly------baldomir had a great year with beating the ww champ and gatti and he got to fight floyd------floyd was smart to fight carlos after judah coz judah gave him a much better fight----magarito would have been dominated by floyd, and this is obvious---but people can believe what they want to on here----
