I feel that if Marvin had stepped it up, then he could have done some serious damged and could have possibly stopped Leonard. At times he seemed to be holding back.
1 fight in 5 years, coming back to beat the reigning middleweight champion, making it close was already great.

And I felt Leonard won that fight, he'd keep about even with Hagler for most of the rounds then flurry towards the end to steal it, Hagler lost that fight by coming out orthodox.

      And what happened?

      Or should I elaborate?
Leonard was probably as big as Oscar and the same height as well. Hopkins just pressured him and forced him to fight harder round after round( something Hagler didn't do). I think he would clinch and make Leonard come to him to neutralize his speed and combination punching.

That's the thing, how can landing piter pats at the end of every round make up from that lesson he was getting at the beginning and middle parts of those rounds? I personally prefer harder and more telling shots over feather punches, because many of those shots Ray were throwing were not even landing.

Leonard wins by UD. I don't think Hopkins tactics would've work against Leonard.

The thing was Leonard was even for most of the round until the last 30 seconds, Hagler didn't gain superior footing in a lot of the rounds when Leonard came on in the last 30 seconds, Leonard just stole those rounds from Hagler.

And even though Leonard's shots were not as powerful, didn't mean they were all pitty pat punches.

You're right though, it really depends on a person's preference on how he judges fights.
