He'll just never be remembered like Duran or other great lightweights. It's just not going to happen. So no he's not even close like I said. As a pure boxer he's definitely up there though. It's kind of a lamentable waste that he hasn't fought more fights against better or worse opponents from the standpoint of being a boxing fan.

      The facts is there,
I don't know man, do you take G. Hernandez, C. Hernandez, Augustus, Manfredy, Corrales and Chavez over Alfredo Escalera x2, Bobby Chacon, 'Bazooka' Limon, Ruben Castillo and Rolando Navarette?

He appeals to nobody of the light which on this forum is called the 'mainstream.' Nobody watched his fights really. Like they did Tommy Morrison or Ray Leonard.

You make a point my man. However.....we're judging him at 130, not 135.

Believe me, I agree with this. But at 130 he took on enough quality opponents to be discussed as one of the best two or three fighters in that divisions history, imo.

Well, considering we are talking about Super featherweight, and the fact he only had about four fights at lightweight, it is of course very understandable that he won't be remembered like Duran or any decent lightweight champion for that matter. 130 was his division and he's a great champion for it, whether he's the best is hard to say though certainly possible. There have not been many champions who sat in that division for a long time. It has always been a quick-stop division.

Well you make some valid points. But to me 130 and 135 are close enough to be talked about in the same context.

It killz me how some think he isn't interested in fighting the best when he did so at 130-135 and Cotto/ Hatton didn't want none with him at 140.Yet I've said it before

Right now...we don't know who the best 147 pounder is and that is a PROBLEM
Exactly......how come Cotto's peeps don't remember or recall this?.....both Hatton and Cotto was ringside the night Floyd destroyed and embarrassed Gatti.....he was ready to fight either but they chose to do other things just like my boy Prince Naz did when Floyd called him out.....

You assessments was dead on. Floyd is my favorite fighter.
                  But Let me be critical.

Floyd Would have not Dominated Arguello for a couple of reasons.
Arguello had Power, A Chin, and incredible Stamina.

Floyd would not and could not beat Arguello at 130 with his C game like he did with Oscar.

Floyd would have to bring his A game with Arguello.
This fight, Would have force Mayweather fight just like he did with Chavez.
But the Danger is Could he go 15 rounds in a war with a fighter who most of all his KO's came in the 10-14 rounds of Fights...

GOT DAMN.......THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AMAZING FIGHT..!!!

sounds like Margarito or Paul Williams to me.

                      Mayweather clean out 130.

                      130: Super Featherweight

The Top Four Recognized Fighters Were:

                      Genaro Hernandez
                      Angel Manfredy
                      Roberto Garcia
                      Diego Corrales

At Mayweather First Division at 130,He Dominated the Division.
He was Knocking out all top Contenders.
                      • To the Point that after only 2 years turning PRO He was ranked 8th On the P4P List and Number 1 in his Division

                      http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.ph..._Ratings:_1998

He Fought Genaro Hernandez who was 38-1-1 2 time World Champion. And The Reigning WBC world Champion. And The Ring Magazine Recognize World Champion of The Division.Who only Lost came from Oscar De La Hoya in which Oscar broke his in several places. .Which Happen 3 years Earlier

In that Fight Floyd Dominated the Recognize Champion at 130. and Officially Became
                      • The WBC world Champion at 21 years old and 17 fights.
                      ...
not no international or state or any other bull**** title, but The Official Recognize WBC world Champion at 21 years old. And Now Recognize as The Ring Magazine number # 1 fighter in the division at 21 years old
and #8 on P4P list out of all the fighters in the world.

His Next Fight right After that Fight,Mayweather beat the guy who was RANKED number #4 ( Angel Manfredy) , And In that fight Mayweather Knocks Him Out in the 2nd.Round.

Now Mayweather had now beaten 2 out of the top 4 fighters in the 130 division. all before the age Of 22.And the 3rd of those 4 fighters was
                      • (Roberto Garcia who was 31-0 with 23 Knock Outs.)

And Floyd was about to fight Roberto Garcia, but Roberto Garcia decided to fight Knock Out Artist and Another P4P Phenomenal fighter in Diego Corrales.. Who out of 33 fights to that Point. only 5 fighters didnt get Knock Out.

Roberto Garcia was knock out in the 7th Round by Corrales. Now Instead of Floyd Fighting Roberto Garica, he nows finds himself in the position
of fighting the #5 Pound 4 Pound fighter in the sport, and then #1 fighter at 130...Diego Corrales.

and In that Fight Floyd was a 2 to 1 Underdog, to not only lose to Corrales. But to get Knock out.

Floyd fights Corrales, The #5 P4P fighter in the sport and #1 fighter in the division, and in the fight compellingly outclassed
and Knocks out Diego Corrales in a 10 round 1 sided fight.

After that Floyd Completely Clean out the 130 Division with 8 title defenses, with 6 of those fights ending in Knock out.
                      • Floyd at 130 now can not get a big name fighter to fight him from Featherweight to Lightweight.

NOBODY..and when big name fighters did get approach about fighting Mayweather, they either demand a 55-45 split, or didnt return the call. So Floyd started calling out all the big names Shane Mosely, Oscar De La Hoya, everybody.
But Nobody wanted to fight. So instead of staying at 130 where no other big names will fight him at. He moves Up.

And his first fight was against the number # 1 guy at 135 JLC.

F****** PBF He is just lucky Pacman is not yet on that division or else He was demolished by an asian fighter..... that's why he retire even he was in his peak prime.....
