I still only remember him stating that if/when Cotto beats Margarito he'd be fighting Cotto..I don't remember him saying he'll fight the winner of the match as he was confident that Cotto wouldn't lose...

    I could be wrong tho.

i think he as too confident that cotto would win, cotto is a small WW and it wouldn't have surprised me if the match with DLh had taken part in a higher weight class or a catchweight where cotto would have been ineffective.

i guess the way marg brutally dismantled cotto didn't really help his chances.

apparently when floyd was young and upcoming his promoters wanted to market him in the same way as oscar, but floyd said no. they wanted to promote him in the same goodlooking, charismatic and talented bracket that had proven so popular for oscar and also his promoters. but floyd said no, he wasn't going to put on a fake mask or facade for anyone, now regardless of what you say that deserves respect, the minute i heard that i began to see floyd in a better light, in fact you could argue that he has more in common with hatton than oscar in that he acknowledge where he comes from.

im not sayig hatton and mayweather have the same personality - far from it but they both choose to reflect their roots. the english have never liked the uppity, stuck up their arse mentality and have appreciated aggression, hunger and competion but outside the ring there is a focus on gentle conduct and humility - hatton reflects all these traits. mayweather is the same with his talented, mouthy, trashy even but hes been able to back it up, like hatton he backs up his words and finds solace and security in his roots.

oscar is the opposite he changes his masks whenever he feels like it and based on whom he is around - one minute he wants the hungry, warrior mexican tag the next he wants to be seens as a legit, buisnessman. well imo he can't have it both ways he is eeither one or the other or he is more of one than the other but he seems content in trying to pull the wool over our eyes by making himself out to be both. as a result he seems fake, he doesn't seem to be either of them genuinely.

i guess what im saying is - I JUST DONT LIKE THAT MOFO!!!!
So a "Mexican Warrior" can't have business acumen? That's ridiculous, there are many fighters that have taken their careers into their own hands, how could you not be both?. Hoya is insanely rich and not all his income came from Boxing, how could he not be a legit business man? But as far as fighting goes, based on his recent picks, I'd say he's definitely more business now than fighter. As a matter a fact, it's been like that for a while now.

He never really seemed to care what we think lol, which is a good thing. But he did fight the best, I think he got the shaft in the Trinidad fight, I mean how anyone can completely outpoint another fighter and STILL lose is beyond me...

He fought Mosley like he didn't know what the **** he was doing, if he would have used his fast hands and keep Sugar at the end of his punches in the first fight instead of trying to impress everyone around him and try to brawl...he might have takin that easily.

Thats what his career seemed like, like he got completely out of his game just to impress his viewers no matter who they were. He seems like a vain person. More concerned with how he looks as oppose to how he performs.

But I don't know, I could be dead wrong. But I see fast hands like that, presicion like he had, and I see a ****in spoiler in the making, he could have completely turned the boxing world upside down. He was big, but I think he could have been bigger.

You're right Mayan, there was so much expected of him because of his Boxing pedigree, he left some in an anti-climatic state. His looks were good for Boxing from a business stand point, he brought more of a female demographic into the sport more fans means more money, maybe that's why it was important to him.
