So lets assume for the sake of argument that the Calzaghe and Dawson fight ends up happening:
What if-
Calzaghe wins by clear and wide UD, I'm guessing pretty much everyone here gives him credit right? (Except for the few who say Dawson was just green, but these are just the extreme haters of Calzaghe).
What if-
Calzaghe wins by real close mixed or split decision:
It could have went either way, but he generally took it in the majority public's eye on workrate as usual. (similar to against Bhop). Yet, the smaller minority believe that Dawson took it on cleaner punching (similar to against Bhop). Is he still a fraud or does he get credit for beating a prime young, hungry fighter? Or is he still a clown that only wins on workrate to those that didn't like him to begin with?
What if-
Calzaghe loses.
Whether by UD or knockout. Do you consider him exposed and truly the unspectacular fighter that many people criticized him for being? Does this negate the good wins of his career? Is he nothing but a lucky bastard? Or do his previous achievements and everything he's accomplished still stand in your eyes, BUT Dawson was just the better man?
Personally, I respect Calzaghe for his boxing ability and versatility. I think he's one of the most adaptable fighters in the game today. In my eyes, the only way he'd be considered exposed by Dawson is if he gets absolutely schooled in a boxing sense by him. (which i highly, highly doubt could happen). Even if Dawson were to knock him out, I think Calzaghe's previous achievements and caliber as a boxer still stands. What do you guys think? Share your opinions.
