Juan Diaz has a higher work rate then Calzaghe..
Margarito holds the record for throwing most punches per round.
Paul Williams also has a very high workrate.

That's not a good enough reason. Margarito seems like he throws harder and his punches are straighter.

Juan Diaz has a great workrate but he can be hit with body punches and slowed down as Nate Campbell showed us

probably because he squares himself up to much and that is why you can get to his body easier and he does stand infront of you aswell

allthough against Kats he backed off more

Although he threw more than 1500 punches for one fight, how is Marg's work rate in other fights? I don't think it's as high as Joe's but I could be wrong. I don't follow Marg much.
Williams' workrate is even greater than Zaghe's but he's up there too. The thing is, he's not a very good fighter and only carefully chosen opposition for most of his career made that not apparent to the untrained eye, like Cotto fooled many until he fought Margarito but if you bring back my posts and other's too, before the fight i was saying Cotto can't fight going back and once he meets someone stronger he will have to and we will have to see what happens. I can draw a parallel here.

Manny Pacquiao's workrate is up there with Calzaghe's, if anything I rank Manny's higher due to his power shots and sitting on his punches...

                  Workrate AND accuracy = Margarito
It is about punches thrown AND landed.
That was the devastating factor in especially the Cotto fight.
Cotto was ahead on the score cards up to the 6th-7th round but after that all those punches took him out, as the accuracy of Margaritos punches began to wear down Cotto.

I dont recall anybody who fights now or in the past around Calzaghe's weight class that has come anywhere near his workrate

I believe P4P Tony has a higher output than Calzaghe. You have to take into account that Tony throws hard, thudding punch after punch and although Calzaghe doesnt always just slap around, many of his punches are arm punches.

Don't mean to sound like a hater but even his fans have got to admit that a lot of his punches are in fact arm punches (which are easier to throw than real punches)
