After De La Hoya KO's Pacman, Calzaghe should be p4p no.1!

If De la hoya knocks out Pacquaio Joe Calzaghe should be elevated to the no. 1 p4p spot.

That would be a nice way for Joe to announce his retirement IMO.

more than likely joe will be #1 when pac losses.

me personally if pac losses a close decision i say keep his p4p title.

oscar probably has more in the tank than either roy or bernard.

pac losing to oscar is like joe losing to david haye. not really a loss all things considered.

I can't put calzaghe as the top p4p fighter...

in fact i dont even think he belongs as high as he is on the p4p list.

i mean other than career accomplishments who has he REALLY beat to earn the top p4p spot???

i mean he beat two old guys in roy jones jr and hopkins.

im sorry but i dont think he belongs as top p4p fighter...

Pac's loss to DLH shouldn't count against him. And if it did, JMM would be #2, not Joe C.

Really? Just curious but who would you rank above Calzaghe and who would be your p4p no.1 then?

I'd make Joe number 1 depending on how Pacquiao loses. If he is blown out in a couple of rounds, Marquez or Calzaghe should take his number 1 spot.

I would prefer to see Calzaghe "earn" it by taking out Chad Dawson though.

pac/dlh don't count because it's an exhibition fight

I dont think so. Pacquaio himself for instance, didnt 'earn' his topspot but got it when Mayweather retired.

I agree but no one has truly earned it except maybe Whitaker, usually the number 1 p4p gets his top spot after the previous number 1 loses/retires.

Pacquiao did have a great performance against David Diaz when Mayweather retired as did Mayweather against Gatti at the time Hopkins lost to Taylor, validating their claim.

I'm not sure how meaningful it would be for Calzaghe to wait until Pacquiao loses to DLH and then announce retirement.
