Where do you guys rank Evander Holyfield?

Personally I rank him at number 2, though a lot of people think I'm crazy ranking him in the top 5!!

My explanation is at my blog page here:

I wonder how many poeple, if any, are remotely with me here. And no, a ban is NOT in order

I haven't done a definitive list, but my guess is that he's either in the lower end of the top 10, or just outside the top 10, all-time at HW.

You rank Evander Holyfield as the second best HW of all time? Wow.

Can you guys give me the 8+ names ahead of Holyfield?

I love Tyson, but his resume does not compare to Holyfield's. Same with Lennox Lewis, the one-punch KO victim, though still a top-10-20 great.

At a MINIMUM, I would rate the following heavies above Evander:

            Muhammad Ali
            Joe Louis
            Jack Dempsey
            Rocky Marciano
            Lennox Lewis
            George Foreman
            Larry Holmes

There are probably several others as well.

I accept there is always subjectivity when compiling all time lists, but having Evander at 2 is beyond ridiculous in my view.

              Dempsey?

He never even fought a black fighter. Dempsey??

Lennox above Holyfield?? He was KO'd by Olvier McCall and Rahman!!

Marciano retired undefeated though his comp was NO WHERE NEAR Holyfield's. Not even close, except for Ezzard Charles.

Foreman was great but he was KO'd by Ali and retire by Jimmy Young ... in his PRIME!

Can't argue too much with Holmes, though Louis had aBUm of the Month club and a shaky chin, though sturdier than Lennox's.

Who were the others ... at MINIMUM???

Holyfield lost to Bowe, Moorer and Lewis. His biggest wins were over Bowe and Tyson.

Great fighter but not a top 5 HW by any means.

Sorry, just to clarify, the fighters I stated were those I would rate over Holy at a minimum. "Others" referred to fighters I would have to consider rating over Holyfield.

If I took the time to sit down and methodically try to put together a complete criteria for a top 10 I highly doubt Holy would make it. Top 15 most probably.

By the way I think you would struggle to find a single member of this forum that would agree with you.
