I know there are some Joe fans who think he could beat Ruiz but I just don't see it. Ruiz would just wear him down physically I think.

If calzaghe could throw a proper punch its possible as ruiz is several leagues below in terms of everything but power. He's quite possibly the worst champion of the past decade.

Having said that if calz got hit flush by a heavyweight, that would be that to be fair.

P4P Calzaghe is a better boxer then Ruiz. Hell, i think Ruiz is **** to be brutally honest but i don't think Calzaghe could make the weight and be affective. He'd lose a lot of stamina IMO, which is one of his prize weapons.

Calzaghe is a lot more stationary than Jones and he would probably have to spend more time standing infront of Ruiz than Toney,Jones did they used their defensive styles to ease through Calzaghe is probably not as cute those defensively

allthough if Calzaghe kept Ruiz on the end of his Southpaw jab and did not get involved too much i could see him pulling it off

The main problem is calzaghe loves a scrap and against a heavyweight thats a big no no, If he had the power to keep ruiz honest and fight on the outside (just like jones did perfectly) he could edge it, sadly his hands are too fragile to ever have a go at heavyweight imo.

If Ruiz had a belt, maybe Joe C could become a HW champ after all.

I just don't think his jab would keep Ruiz off him. He would just walk through it and be leaning all over Joe all night. I don't see Joe having any means by which he could effectively overcome that.

this is such a ridiculous post - calz a heavyweight!?!

their are some fighters tha are capable of moving up weight categories and still keeping their skills, reflexes, stamina and improving their power - RJJ, mayweather, sugar shane, PW, pacman.

then there are some fighters who just can't e.g. hatton, malginaggi, calzaghe.

Joe is not as slick as Jones or Toney, and I think he would get caught and put down. He has speed but doesnt have the reflexes and he doesnt have the power to keep Ruiz off. Also Ruiz with his hit and hold style would make it hard for Joe to get off.
