Mike Tyson (in his prime). Having destroyed most of his opponents by KO in the first few rounds.

Larry Holmes (coming off a decision loss 2 years prior). 49-1 and two years retired.

Holmes talks trash about Tyson saying he's a thug and that he's a bad person at the press conference.

Tyson destroys Holmes in four rounds knocking him down multiple times and becoming the only man to KO Holmes. Basically a non-competitive steamrolling. This would never happen to Holmes again (not against Vander or Mccall).

After the fight Tyson says that he could never beat Holmes in his prime and that Holmes was a great champion and was "awesome". Holmes throughout the years continues to badmouth Tyson.

Tyson goes on as we all know to do what he did. Holmes CONTINUES to fight have a very GOOD career after his KO by Tyson never being KOed again AND being competitive with champions Evander Holyfield in 1992 (42 years old), by UD after 12 rounds; and Oliver McCall in 1995, by UD in 12 rounds (45 years old).

Tyson gets historically no credit for this win.

Joe Calzaghe coming off of his best wins and best competition(prime is debatable but his best wins were when he was older against kessler and Lacy and B-hop at age 37).


Roy Yones Jr coming off of a win over Tito (who was bloated retired multiple times and hadn't had a real win since Hassin Cherefi or Mayorga if you want to be nice and two nobodies). Way past his physical and mental prime at age 39 having been brutally KOed 3/4 years before not once but TWICE and also quitting in a fight against Tarver. Suddenly once the fight is signed, tons of people begin to think that Roy still has it for some reason (be they Joe or Roy fans) somehow blocking out his brutal Knockout losses.

Joe has said before the fight in his book that Jones is shot and a joke and there would be no point to fighting him. Strangely changes his mind and begins to say Roy is still a great fighter and then decides to fight him. Prefight build up is lackluster, the two look more like gay lovers than enemies. Roy appears just happy to be there and Joe's dad babbles on talking trash about Roy.

Joe gets dropped at the outset (forearm, fist, whatever). Gets up and proceeds to dominate and humiliate Jones. Joe stands in front of Jones with his hands down head touching head and Jones doesn't even throw punches. UD for Joe (some say he let's Jones survive ) but never hurt jones the same way glen johnson did or even Tarver did. First time in his career that Roy jones is cut. Cornermen of Roy prove incompetent.

Joe gives Roy credit only to say that he's STILL a good fighter after the fight (thus making himself look better).

Joe is declared an all time great and would beat Jones in his prime by his fans.

Tyson gets discredited for his good wins because he was a convicted rapist and bit Holyfields ear, it's a pity. Really, Tyson is up there with the greats and he could **** with any great heavyweight and pose a serious threat, especially with his skills. Calzaghe is a clown who is overated, full of himself and a coward. Calzaghe never walked through any division, he carefully avoided tough fights and even had trouble with sub-par fighters.

Well Daggum, I am a Calzaghe fan, and since I just posted that bold bit you quoted...hmmm, not sure what you mean...

As I say, any sensible, and when I say educated, I mean, true followers of his career, development, etc...would admit that prime Jones would have been the pick for this fight during the 90's...which could conceivably have been a great fight...

I would not bet against Jones though
